The Onion is the leftwing version of The Babylon Bee and it is being said its purchase of Infowars is to turn it into another fake news creation site fully discrediting everything it has exposed over the years. Often the joke has been that Alex Jones is always right as he has said some of the most shocking things that no one could imagine is true… yet in time they would turn out to be true. Now being under the umbrella of The Onion it could serve to discredit all the trust that has been built up. They hate Alex Jones for the same reasons that they hate Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. Info Wars didn't just ask the hard questions about Sandy Hook. They also dared to bring attention to Pizzagate. And just when they were trying to debunk him and try to make him look like just another conspiracy theorist wackjob, a lot of the information about Pizzagate actually started to check out. That's when Alex Jones was genuinely marked for death.
You could almost say the spear to the face from 300 is a comparison to having Trump back in office
