As a U.S.Naval Hospital Corpsman 3rd class, I can confirm that this is something that we do. And it is pronounced " Cor-man" or "Coreman" depending on your accent.

The reason you don’t f with Doc, is that he is those marines only lifeline when out on patrol. By attacking them, you attack their collective chances of survival.

I have always had a theory about the men who are corpsmen. They really meant to sign with the Corps and the Navy, recognized and corrected this oversight as expeditiously as possible.

I just got to the part where Doc is sitting alone and the aliens see him…..They are about to do one of the dumbest things you can do. Do not fuck with doc.
Just prior to marching out to our boot camp graduation ceremony, our senior drill instructor gave us two last bits of knowledge.
1) If you didn't have one or two Office Hours (Article 15 Non-Judicial Punishment) before your first enlistment was up, then you weren't a good Marine.
2) Never fuck with corpsmen or chaplains. Protect them. Treasure them. They take care of you. Your mug runs empty before theirs does. All other squids are fair game.
