What a terrible decision to end the series. The Oz / Vic relationship was terrific, but the way it started and ended made no sense. No hardened gangster would admit to a kid that he just killed a mob boss (as Oz did). And (no spoilers) what Oz did in the end added nothing to the character – we know he's evil. It didn't serve any plot point, didn't conclude or transition to anything. Such a disaster of an ending. Seemed like the show runners just wanted to shock us. What a mistake.
All I see is Emmyβs and rightfully deserved
what started out as 1 of the best series ever, ended up as a woke feminist episode of the maury povich show. damn that ending was underwhelming and disappointing. and obviously they just couldnt finish it. they had to leave it open for S2
Amazing show from start to finish
They probably got Sofia into Arkham for the crimes that is her hairstyle in the last couple of episodes
Theo Rossi was the weakest link in this show. I canβt stand him. 9,5/10
This is the BEST show out right now. DC needs to continue to separate itself from Marvel by continuing to make HIGH QUALITY mini series that flesh out main characters and hype up the movies they will be in. DC should even do a Lex Luthor mini series for the Superman movies.
Great acting and production, but the script is so shaky, like Oz just running away from Sofia so easily.
The casting in this show is phenomenal
Bravo! Fantastic storytelling, spectacular acting and the sets and execution of each episode is flawless!
Oz promised the working stiffs he'd save them. Vic believes him. Oz finds an "in" with the political elite tuxedo crowd, then kills Vic to enter that crowd clean. I thought of Democratic Party elites and their voters over the past 40 years, and wondered if this allegorical reading was intentional or just eerily timely.
Everything about this masterpiece was brilliant done and written..mad respect to all the crew and minds behind making this…they showed us that at the end OZ was the real villain and manipulator
This is a testimony to everyone saying people dislike female written scripts and stories. People hate BAD WRITING. This is a masterclass in checking boxes for everything I swear. Such a gorgeous finale. Congrats to the whole crew and team for delivering this.
Amazing show!
Sheesh, this Penguin makes the Daredevils Kinpin look like barney in a Hawaiian shirt ..
Only DC creates these types of epic villain arcs. I'm happy they ignored the soft fans of today and went back to full on gritty material.
I love how he weaseled his way out of being killed by Rex like he did every time after that to get to where he is.
Damn my boy Vic RIP
I knew "he gone" the moment they sat near the river.
when sophia had that group therapy session, i think thats when she broke oz. she made it that his momβs last words to him was that she hated him. that heβs the devil. she took his motherβs love from him. truly the best sequence in the show imo, putting oz in the perfect situation to show everyone just how selfish, depraved and monstrous he really is, even to his own mother.
The penguin's so called love for his mom is a mirror to confirm himself from the other. Like women make up or ig post to validation.
γγI think it's a bit of too obvious in the end. Do the writer really think to need to write that ask his girlfriend to play the mom and son thing is necessary for audience to understand that. Let him ask her to praise him is enough. Don't treat like as think the audience is baby.
γγBy the way, my dad didn't get it until I told him. He is not a movie fan though. So maybe it is necessary to make it that obvious for audience to understand.
Brilliant acting by Colin. Wow.
Unreal ending! What an incredible series and job building this version of the Penguin! Too bad itβll be a few years before we see the next Batman movie!
This show reminded me why sometimes penguin gets thrown in arkham in the comics
this ending felt a little rushed but still some great moments. like why did she make a big deal about being a Gigante then just give it all up
A pure classic show .
Whenever you start to fall into thinking you are on Oz's side, you are swiftly and brutally reminded he is the main villain here. Fantastic show.
This was a great series. I want to see the same writing and directing team do a Two Face or Mr. Freeze series
Killing Vic was pragmatic business with layers but not pulling the plug on his momma after having her see the penthouse city view to keep both promises made him a true villian in my eyes.
An excellent series! Great writing, design, production and absolutely superb acting. After The Acolyte being such a let down I wasn't too interested in a show about "The Penguin". I am so happy to be completely wrong and from week to week could not wait to see what would happen next. Chef's kiss all the way around! Except now I am sad it won't be a continuing series ;(
"You can call me a villain, but I donβt play by your rules. I run this town from the shadows, and when I step into the light, youβd better pray you're not in my way" R.I.P Vic
"killing his own heart and becoming a monster" – maybe it's about fully embracing the monster that was already there to begin with
Absolutely incredible showπΊπΏππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎ
So many amazing people involved in this show but Lauren LFranc deserves all the praise you can tell she had a very clear vision start to finish and you really feel that throughout. She doesn't pull any punches.
The showrunner for She-Hulk needs to watch this show and take notes…
This show is no longer a DC show. This is a pure crime drama we haven't seen since the sopranos. Amazing series. I feel you should not continue and keep it at the high it left on. HBO are the kings of the crime drama genre.
W
His relationship with his mother is homelander-ish
"Nothings standing in your way now"
*Bat signal lights up
DC is back….in its true elegant way….The dark way.
"Gotham is like a jungle, its a very dangerous place!" That is an amazing way to describe the city of Gotham
I love how they found a way for him to put on the old school Penguin tuxedo without it feeling like forced fanservice.
This is a absolute masterpiece. The acting.writing. clothes they wear and the whole vibe of the show is just perfect. Thank you for making this
Ima call it now, Vic is coming back as Hush in the third film. He's gonna watch Gotham burn for what it did to him and his whole family. How you ask? Well, it's called a Lazarus Pit, my friends.
I can't go past Oz and Vic just sitting there I will not watch the end of the show and I will not watch him kill Victor I refuse
I knew vic was a great kid but knew too much, had to go. Great show.
Every Batman villain deserves this type of quality level series.
Bravo! Best show of the year!
that showrunner thinks sophia is the good guy ? pretty sure vik was the good guy sphia was just as bad as the penguin if not worse
