  1. So maybe The Emperor had the Thunder Warriors culled bc they already been exposed to Chaos and knew what was lurking in the darkness. They couldn't be trusted with such knowledge since their lives were already short and racked with pain.

  2. Imagine an immortal warlord calling himself the emperor wipes out religion and kills all opposition using genetic engineered demons which he plans to kill later on. Is it unification or an antichrist rising to power and worshipped by those who had their religion genocided by this immortal warlord?

  3. The Unification Wars make many of the conflicts of the Great Crusade look tame considering just how horrible the Techno barbarians were, and especially with many of them create gene monstrosities that could Space Marines apart with ease, which meant that the Emperor could hold his punch when it came with the Thunder Warriors brutal war against them.

  4. This was definitely a fun video; a nice glimpse into the early Imperium, and how the Emperor did things, but it sort of makes me wish for a similar bit if information; the first Rogue Traders? Rogue Traders are possibly my favorite thing, but 40k; baseline humans actually possessing some of the Imperium's best technology, equipment, and personnel, or whatever shoddy crap they can find, and seeing how far they can go with unlimited ambition!, and my own knowledge of 40k tells me that the first RTs were basically some of these other Terran warlords that the Emperor made a Faustian bargain with. He couldn't necessarily afford to just outright kill them, but nor could he trust them, so close to where they once ruled, and someone needed to precede his Crusade fleet, and get an idea of how things were out there. I think it could be so interesting to know stuff about these terrorists made tradesmen, though I'm unsure if really anything concrete is known about them. What qualified as "edges of the Imperium" back then, and did they clash much with xenos, that seemed to mostly avoid the Crusade fleets? A lot could be said for the Emperor's great Astartes, Primarchs, and Custodes, but it could also be great to see what humans were capable of.

  5. The Saharan SläpFïght of 420 M30. The Emperor of Mankind challenged King Slāpabîch to a släp-duel. King Slāpabîch used a leather glove. Big E used his Lightning Claw. Flawless victory.

  6. imo, the massacre of the thunder warriors is propaganda used against the emperor. a craftsman never throws away tools until they are useless. the tws may have had a short time to be used, but why have them killed? what if they would have killed the custodes instead? then you'd really be screwed. smart people dont do things like that. big e could have loaded them onto a space transport and then blew it up. or send them all through a warp portal to fight chaos. or send them into the webway to fight the dark eldar. plenty of uses for the tws. too big of a risk to send your best fighters to kill off your others.

  7. Good stuff. I love a good story and you tell them well. I'm guessing the emps was taking a nap when the unspeakable king was having his day in the sun. You'd think that thunder warriors would be useful for dumping into ork worlds or other Zeno's ridden places. They're cheap, ruthless, and their psychotic behaviors of killing civilians are irrelevant on zenos worlds. Basically stronger world eaters. Seems kinda of a waste to massacre them.

  8. I think we don't fully grasp the situation on Terra; pre-unification. If you look at the map, you see large nation-states that consisted of multiple Hive blocks. These places had massive populations, industrial bases, and stockpiles of DAoT + NBC weaponry. They were fortified and protected by advanced; well-armed professional armies. Who were able to repulse Mechanicum Raiders, Techno Barbarian hordes, and (eventually) the Emperor's Thunder Warriors.

In comparison, the Emperor only controlled the Himalayan plateau with its very limited resources. The region also didn't have much of an industrial base; which logistically limited the amount of troops he could field & support. This is why, at first, many considered the Emperor to be "just another" wasteland warlord. However, through skillful diplomacy and selective conquest, he was able to slowly expand; as each success brought manpower, resources, and industry. In the end, the Emperor was simply able to steamroll everyone who didn't submit.

  9. I wish Games Sweatshop would put out (and support for more than 30 seconds), a 1990s Necromunda/Gorka Morka-ish Unification Wars game. Small bands of Thunder Warriors, Technobarbarians, Genohussars, etc. and books. So many books.

  10. Malcador: E, buddy. Making yourself look like a god is a bad idea.

Emperor: oh, relax; what's the worst it can happen?

    Later

Emperor: Why are they worshipping me!?

Malcador: I TOLD YOU NOT TO MAKE YOURSELF LIOOK LIKE A GOD! But nooooo, you told me to relax

  11. I wonder:
    – Why didn't he try to stop the downfall of humanity like that age of strife? Humanity at the time was enlightened and knowledgable aren't they?
    – Why didn't he haul away the golden age high tech stuffs as many as possible like those STGs? Would make his job much easier.

  12. I always thought somewhat dumb to get rid of the thunder warriors that way. Couldn't have been more usefu throw them against the greatest threats during the heresy? Maybe keeping them in stasis in between battles? Somehow like the AI given to the lion?
