Shadow minister hits out at Labour over NHS funding and reform plans

Shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho was asked about the government’s plans to name and shame underperforming NHS trusts, and sack managers that fail to turn things around.

The health secretary explained earlier that these reforms would go alongside financial investment.

Ms Coutinho told Sky News: “It’s a funny way of going about it when you give people the money first, then you negotiate on the reforms afterwards.”

  1. This guest is quite right. What on earth is the point of the UK adhering to these difficult emissions targets, which are destroying our economy, when the BRICS countries are blatantly not! They are laughing at us while taking full advantage as they forge ahead, growing their economies on the back of fossil fuels? We should refuse to participate in these worthless international agreements until the BRICS nations sincerely and honestly cooperate!

  2. What reform? They’re doing nothing! Negligence has caused countless deaths and nothing changed there, so what is a league table and a possible pay rise/bonus reduction for managers going to do? Too many people using it, many of whom have paid zero in to this country and abuse every freebie going….Add to that cheap nurses imported in who disastrous and doctors from abroad equally as incompetent seem to be on the rise. They wont touch that though because that goes against their ideology. Remember, everything this government does is ideologically motivated.

  3. Oh my god it is only now becoming clear how good we’ve had it under the Tories (albeit they had flaws indeed). Even the worst Tory government is always better than a Labour government people!!!

  4. Both labour and the tories have been deliberately sabotaging the NHS so they can the use it as an excuse to privatise it. They do it by employing a massive layer of expensive managers who are busy undermining the day to day workings within the NHS.

  5. Be Warned!: "Reforms” / “Reformation” is (literally) a code-word for the Trojan horse take-over/invasion/conquest of indebted nations by the (military) order of the UN Security Council, UN Corps-oration, NATO, IMF & WEF, etc. The “great reformation of government” = The clandestine conquest of the nation by the (self-described) “WWII Victors” (i.e.: the UN Security Council). Our so-called ‘leaders' have sold us down the river, into debt-bondage. In the false-fantasy-universe of global usury, our countries and we, the people, are considered securities. Collateral. Bonds. Through debt, ‘they’ select and 'own' the leaders. Indeed, “Everybody wants to rule the world” (now 56 countries & counting). Our (so-called) ’leaders’ (i.e.: criminals) are literally part of the global military order, carrying out the orders of an insidious, vile/evil, unlawful, scamming scheme that above-mentioned global ‘conquerors’ are calling a "rules based order”, in violation of the Rule of Law. These are international criminals pathologically obsessed with dominance, power- and money-grabbing.

  6. What accountability is in there in the Private Sector Countinho……think Thames Water, multiple failed Rail franchises, Carillion, ISG, and multiple acts of incompetence from Serco Capita plus the fantastic Olympic games fiasco from G4S.
    She’s full of crap!

  7. The Tories were the worst government ever, profiteering in a crisis, they are just crooks and chancers. But Labour are liars and equally as corrupt. They don’t care about the working class. It’s time to vote for a new third party.

  8. Accountabily that's labours language. For privatisation we should monitor labours MPs sponging. There's no reins for labour to pull in there. Labour ghouls are going after hospices and they can't even leave. The dying. To die in peace
