XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.

Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.

  1. Captain Buzzkill here, I take issue with the end of video meme: Ethereals pause mission timers, but they don't escape (that was just a guess by Odd). Also, unlike rulers, you can get more than one on a mission and/or in the same mission with a Chosen or actual Ruler.

  9. 1:16:06 When the Trojan Virus activated on that mech, I thought it was the mec attacking Mr. Rain with a virus after he hacked it and not the other way. It could be an interesting dark event:
    For _ months, if a robotic unit, cell doors, towers, or objectives are hacked, there is a chance of a virus infecting the hacker. This would either reduce their hack stat for the mission, or make their hack abilities unusable for a few turns.

  11. Has there been a recent Windows Update Boss Battle again? I'm curious because, the audio in this video is distinctly different from your normal videos. It's very…tinny, completely lacking any oomph, if that helps describe it? (sorry neurodivergent brain). (and yes, my other apps, music players, etc still sound fine…)

    It also sounds a little like 90% or so sound displacement to the right channel? Just me?

    Looking forward to the double episode though, and no doubt many "Odd" (TM) moments! 🙂

  16. "Why do they move now" – cause you put down the claymore, of course. In theory they don't see you, but AI knows you are preparing and when you overdo the preparation it sometimes just says "enough".

    I do not remember if Tourist has an explosive that sticks to an enemy in addition to claymore, but it would be a better choice.

    Just a thought: Interrupt could be used for pod elimination with explosive. Lets say you put a claymore, detonate it with a grenade when you have another soldier with grenade set on interrupt. Then as the pod starts to disperse you can still throw one more explosive, and hardly anything will survive 3 blasts.

  17. Odd, you literally wait too long every single time you do an ambush. You are trying to set it up perfectly and if you are saying out loud they don't look like they are ever going to move that's exactly when they are going to move. Perfect is the enemy of getting it done my dude. Also, the claymore will go off if you just hit it with another explosive. You have rockets for a reason, you are hoarding them like every mission is the final mission. Just set the claymore and rocket with petrol and that whole situation is done in one round.

  23. Maybe one day Odd will realize Homing mine is just a better version of the Claymore. There is hope. But am I the only one really surprised that, after all these hundreds of hours of gameplay, he still makes very dumb rooky mistakes and forget how things work?
