Shadow defence minister pays tribute to fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day

Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie has paid tribute to Australia’s fallen soldiers as he recognised the historical significance of Remembrance Day.

“Remembrance Day is about remembering the sacrifice of all those men and women, more than 100,000 of them, who have given their lives serving our country,” Mr Hastie told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Today at 11 o’clock, we pause to remember those people and also those who followed in their footsteps subsequently from the Second World War right through to the Afghanistan War.”

  1. While I have the upmost respect for all our fallen soldiers.. I noticed this shadow defence minister Andrew Hastie was not listed as a minister for defence on the official Australian govt website.
So what is a shadow minister?

  2. I don't know what a "shadow defense minister" is. It sounds terrifying though.

So…question; he's standing in full light and he's still half in shadow. How does that even happen? The sun is behind him? Because the shadow on his face and neck is the shadow of his head.

Is this AI? Is this australian A Egon Chelokian?

  3. If you look behind his shoulder at 6:15 you can reportedly find the Australian Navy.

But let's be serious, boys. AUKUS (AUUKUS?) was a handout from the US to struggling, mostly liberal island nations. And why do you suppose that is?

Well I'll give you a hint; just like how there's a base full of our regime-change guys on your island that your government isn't allowed to inspect, it's to test out policies that our spooks would like to use against us, so they want to try them out in microcosm.

People don't understand like how bafflingly, mind-bogglingly huge the US is in terms of both landmass and population. Let's put it this way; the UK is the same size as Maryland, and they conquered like half the world for a bit. We have 49 more less-shitty states.

    Well…maybe like 44.

As for Australia, I don't even know your landmass, but I do know that the reason there are only 3 cites in AU and they're all on the coast is because literally everything there wants you dead, so you have to stay together and drunk to keep up the population and morale.

…and to forget the war crimes. I mean…you guys aren't very big, and you don't get into a lot of wars, but you go hard when you do.

  4. We have canadien flags here in Normandie, since the 2nd world war. With the 1rst world war, only americans have gravewards here in France. I must inquire whether australians were fighting in France during the 2 world wars. I lived and worked in Australia but never asked australians (they would not know anyway). Australians from the élite were hating french people and living german people. Because anglo-saxons are the élite in Australia!

  5. LEST WE FORGET

To the veterans who fought in the war

for our freedom and so much more

November 11th we'll honour and cherish

all the souls the war let perish

To these veterans we give our respect

their reason for dying we shall reflect

For even though tired and sore

their valiant spirit won the war

So wear your poppy with great pride

for it represents all who died

A moment of silence we shall give

because of them Freedom will live

  6. Lest We Forget–November 11th–The Purple Poppy

    REMEMBER THE ANIMALS

The pigeon, the dog and the mighty horse

all part of regiments in the war's course.

Even the cats were down in the trench

purring comfort in that awful stench.

Mankind often forgets they were there

and the many crosses these animals bare.

These fine creatures helped the war

staying with soldiers in the bloody gore.

So think of animals on this Remembrance Day

In the moment of silence…think where they lay
