I normally like these but this one is just a no, sorry. People traveling faster then or near the speed of light would have to have physical shields against all speeds of solid objects or be destroyed while flying in space. The radio broadcast would take centuries to get to any planet because of the limitations a radio wave can travel. Anyone that would be interested in this would know this and it just takes away from the story. I love the overall idea though. Thunbs up for the work done overall.
Most everyone knows that radio waves even moving at the speed of light would take many years to reach planets in the galaxy.
