No one who plays at 1080p is going to to be buying the highest end CPU, let alone GPU. Focusing half the video to 1080p is just dumb.

You made the comparison between 9800x3d and 9700x but didnt show the benchmarks between the 2 on high res gaming (1440p, 2k, 4k) 🙁
If it is close between the 2 in high res gaming I would definitely purchase the 9700x over it.
Currently running a ryzen 9 3900x and got a Ryzen 7 9800X3D this morning for msrp, just need my mobo and ddr5. So hype for this chip. Anyone have suggestions on a decently priced AIO for this beastly CPU?
yes i game on 1080p…but listen…im still on 1st gen Ryzen 1600…so yes im buying 9800X3D to last me another 7 years 😀 why would i buy 5700X3D now, and then replace it again in a year or 2
I appreciate the transparency. Most non technical people watch 1080p benchmarks, see ~100fps improvement, buy the x3d chip and then play on nothing but 2k or 4k resolution with nearly no benefit after spending much more than they should on a cpu and less on gpu. Buyers should only purchace an expensive x3d only if they have a 4080 or 4090. Pairing it with a 7800xt or a 4070 is a waste of money.

Good to see a decent uplift compared to last year. I'm currently rocking a 5900X and I'll be curious how the upcoming 9950X3D performs… might be my next upgrade.
Thanks for including the 1440p and 4K benchmarks as some of the reviews are just showing 1080p Low which is absolutely pointless. Overall it's a pointless upgrade. But great for anyone buying their new PC or from an ancient generation.

So, this time, have managed to find a proper RAM that is fully working on this useless CPU?
This is what I never understood about the insanely fast gaming chips.
If you are building a high end rig, you are gaming at 4K.
Every CPU from the 3600X up will handle 4K just fine.
What really seems to make the difference is memory channels.
A jump from a dual channel system to a quad channel system is making a big difference in new games like monster hunter wilds.
As such, it would be awesome to see a threadripper with this same 3D v-chache technology, as the memory channels are likely limiting speeds.
And in the darkness, bind them.
I REALLY wish y'all had compared the non-3D variant of the 5800x. That's what I have now…
