White phosphorous is toxic so it has the added issue of poisoning the target if it gets inside their system which it will if it burns into someone. I'm not sure that thermite will be banned. Thermobaric weapons also cause nasty burns and there are plenty of them in use and they've been in use for ages. One big issue for the DPRK and Russian troops is that they have never completed exercises together so coordination is an issue. A Russian POW has said that the DPRK troops were firing on Russians on the assault where he was captured. No on purpose but just because they don't have the skills to coordinate with the Russians. Probably didn't help that the DPRK troops were all in Russian digiflora uniforms and the Russians in multicam knock offs. He also complained that the DPRK troops had all brand new Russian equipment and better food than what the actual Russian troops had been issued.

Someone is ALWAYS on watch no matter where you are, no matter the conditions, no matter in battle, in the rear, or in training. From basic training onward, you will ALWAYS have at least 2 men on watch per platoon, and the number increases per threat accordance and SOPs.
