The recent return of Super Heavy left the world in awe, realizing: Oh, a launch pad can do something like that. That’s when we truly start paying attention to SpaceX’s Launch Pad.
But in the future, as countless similar miraculous moments repeat themselves, SpaceX will undoubtedly need a more powerful launch pad. And that’s exactly what Elon Musk recently revealed about a new insane Launch Pad.

As we know, SpaceX’s current Starship launch pad has undergone unimaginable destruction before taking on its present appearance. Indeed, who would recognize this as the launch pad that has served Starship through its test flights? I still can’t believe my eyes when comparing the past launch pad to its state after Starship’s fifth launch.
However, that doesn’t mean that SpaceX’s current launch pad (Launch Pad A) is considered stable, as refurbishment still takes a significant amount of time and effort for SpaceX, and this is not the ultimate goal of Elon Musk for rapid rocket turnaround.

Because of this, the new engineering project being constructed nearby has completely abandoned the old launch pad design and replaced it with a new one. Not only is it new, but it’s also capable of withstanding far greater power than the combined thrust of 33 Raptor 2 engines, as Elon Musk stated in an announcement on X: “The new launch pad is already designed for the 10,000 tons of thrust version, which is almost exactly 3 times more powerful than the Saturn V Moon rocket”
Indeed, it’s clear that SpaceX is progressing steadily in the development of Starship rockets. There is no reason for them to stop now, and currently, SpaceX teams and Elon Musk are accelerating the research and development of new Starship versions. The latest version being built is Starship V2, which stands at 124.4 meters, 3.1 meters taller than the original version. This means the total thrust of the Super Heavy booster must also be improved to 8,240 tons. However, even when Starship V2 exerts its full force on the launch pad, it still won’t be the limit of what this new launch pad can endure. That’s because SpaceX plans to develop Starship V3, which will stand at a towering 150 meters and generate a thrust of 10,000 tons, the highest of any rocket ever built. This could explain why the old system is no longer suitable, and a new system is required that can handle every launch without causing damage to the ground infrastructure.

  5. EPA fined SpaceX another $150,000. for wildlife. Who do you think pays for the Fines. The tax payer when the government ask SpaceX to send a satellite up or pick up astronauts from the space station. Just more overhead added to the price of making rockets. Well as long as they all get there pay check at the EPA they don't care.

  7. That is so cool.
    I have taken my pistol and climbed down in a large hole within city limits and fired the very loud thing. Not only did my dog and I not hear the normally loud bang, but the people living near by couldn't hear it either. The sound appears to have gone up the sides of this large hole and strait up dampening the normally loud sound that a 357 would make. The hole had about 4 feet of water in the bottom of it and the hole itself was around 30 feet in diameter, with concrete on only one side where storm drainage empties into the hole and subsequent ditch on another side. I had no hearing protection and the sound was just muffled like a hand clap. The dog wasn't even affected by the sound.

  16. Screw the FAA and the nuts in the Environmental groups. The few animals that would be accepted can go somewhere a little farther away. The Frigging Birds have WINGS-are these people fools or simply trying to hold up SpaceX. Did these people ever think about Airports, the problem with jets are zip?
    They have problems keeping the damn birds away from the Aircraft that are trying to land and take off.

    How much noise and disturbance would a landing Angel make?
    Who the heck knows. They would find something wrong with the situation.These extreme activists would raise hell will an Angel from heaven if a bird had to move over when the Angel came to earth. >>> More over, If Elon was baking cakes, they would find something wrong with the oven. They just do not like Elon, since he supports conservatives now.
    I doubt very much is China or Russia would tolerate this kind of interference for BS engineered problems.

  20. So unfortunately I don't think his new rocket design launch pad is going to be very efficient. You see the high pressure that is created by thrust. When it combines with moisture, it creates a rapid increase in pressure giving the maximum resistance to thrust. Creating a much better fuel efficiency at liftoff.. I'm just saying everything has to be accounted for…

  22. Missions requiring landing on Mars or the moon will demand landing legs as there's no infrastructure for any other landing method. The stubby little nubs used earlier in development PROVED to be insufficient. Some ability to absorb forces and cushion the craft on landing are necessary to prevent damage to the craft, cargo, and occupants.

  33. This was my idea before StarShip and Booster 1 lifted off. I knew what would happen under the launchpad and referred back to the 1957 paper on Launch Pas Safety. It was further updated to address solid rocket boosters and the shuttle. A cone-shaped flame trench was the only answer for Starship and the booster with the high water table in Boca Chia, Texas. Other problems need to be addressed. SpaceX should consider building an LNG plant close to the launch pad but not as close as being in harm's way. All they need to do is run a natural gas pipeline from the port to the LNG plant. The plant can be built to such a small but effective size that it only takes up the room of one city block. Also, the launchpad needs a burm around it to capture a leak. Inside the berm, there cannot be a single ignition source. It needs to clearly be a class 1 div 1 area.
