8-Year-Old on Bike Hit By Florida Police Vehicle



A Florida cop hit an 8-year-old child on a bike with his patrol car. The Sarasota Police Department released body camera footage of the incident as well as a statement from their police chief. Emotions ran high as neighbors and family members of the little boy rushed to the scene of the accident. The child has had surgery and is still in the hospital, according to police. The officer who was driving the car has been placed on administrative duty while Florida Highway Patrol investigates.

  1. How do parents allow this kind of activity and then have the audacity to be shocked and upset when the likely outcome becomes their reality. 8 year old on a dirt bike in the street with no protection and no apparent lookout? Just asking for trouble

  2. There’s no way the cop could’ve prevented this, not his fault at all.
    I’d never let my kid be outside by themselves at all if I had kids.
    Feel bad for the kid and cop, parents need to either teach the kid how to be careful and actually supervise them outside if they’re in this age group!

  3. This looks like a genuine accident. I feel earful for the kid, the family, and the officer. You can hear the distress in his voice. He will never forgive himself for it whether it was his fault or not.
