Join Matthew, Randy, and Scott as they venture into the vast Great Basin region of Oregon in search of pronghorn. The open landscape offers a unique challenge, as this habitat has been significantly altered by the spread of cheatgrass, an invasive species that’s taken over much of the native vegetation. Randy dives into the history and impact of this grass on local ecosystems, explaining how it affects wildlife and hunting opportunities. Despite spotting over 300 pronghorn, the team struggles to locate a mature buck, experiencing the ups and downs of hunting in one of the most rugged regions of the West.

Nothing more flavorful than slow cooked moose hock meat😋😋
Love the hunt! Y'all should come hunt roosevelt elk around the Old Town of valsetz in western Oregon it's a difficult and different challenge.
My opinion doesn't matter. You speak truth Randy lol.
Matthew enjoy every second spent with Dad,and friends on hunting trips.I miss my Dad everyday when I look back ,the trophy was being with him,so a harvest is a bonus.I refuse to put a measure tape on game.Have hunted with my son i,for Elk Africa twice. My hunt is a success just spendings time and memories.
Good hunt series-thanks!
I've noticed you use both the straight and angled spotting scopes.
Is there a reason why you use one over the other on certain applications, or no reason at all?
I've always really appreciated Randy's insight and also how he is the kinda guy who finds PBnJ spicy but still eats a pepper.
Here in Oregon we like to sell antelope tags, but don't advertise that there is only 1 super buck that breeds the entire herd. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 On another subject, some university somewhere needs to breed a variant of cheatgrass that is good for wildlife, attack from another angle.
Never understood why most people don't take the legs from waterfowl. You can literally double the amount of meat you get from some ducks by just taking the thighs off.
Great lesson about the grass I had no idea. I was blaming lack on animals mostly on the high number of coyotes and horses. Didn’t even know there’s loss of food/beneficial habitat because of the grass.
I look forward to these so much!

Shot enough bucks in my life any more I am out for meat! Pronghorn make great table fare and jerky if taken care of properly. I am looking for body size now LOL. BTW there are no wild horses they are feral horses and need to be controlled!
I think I watched the video where Matthew caught that salmon.
Randy your spot on about cheat grass and ferial horses….Cheat grass is an annual. The only way i know of is to use a pre emergent applied at the correct time and several years in a row…expensive to do on a large scale ;but so are large fires..You don't want your dog or cat around that stuff either .It works in under the skin and the infection can kill them if not caught soon enough.Wouldnt be surprised if other animals aren't effected the same way.
Seems to be some mismanagement by the Oregon Game and Fish Dept. allowing too many Bucks to be taken.
