In the remote northern parts of the United States and Canada, whispers speak of an ancient presence that stalks the forests. Native tribes say it has always been there – a malevolent, cannibalistic beast with an insatiable desire for human flesh. But more recent accounts suggest that this entity’s influence might extend beyond the wilderness. Is it possible that even urban areas are no longer safe from the shadow of the Wendigo?

  1. Just when you think the most dangerous thing in rural areas are people cooking meth. Unless it's the Wendigo's making meth which would be oddly amusing. I think the reason the tribes describe mostly the same thing as the wendigos might not all be like they have different racial features depending on area.

Was it just me or did anyone else see the guy up in a tree with what looked like a bullwhip?It was during the pine tree falling toward the beginning.O.k,nevermind.There's all kinds of random folks showing up in this one.And thanks for not giving most of the wendigos antlers.I wonder where and when that started?

  10. I’ve had 4 paranormal encounters in my 71 years. They are weird and frightening. There is a spiritual world many don’t believe in till they see something not explainable. One example is when I went to pick up my son and his girlfriend at his mother’s. They were sitting on a couch and a 60 pound oak framed picture flew over their heads almost hitting them. It landed 20 feet away. The story got worse but explain how that happened!

  18. Taking only these stories into account, it's not bulletproof. It has no reason to flee something which can't hurt it. If the purpose of going deeper into the woods were ambush, why then did it attempt no further ambush when followed? It might take a lot of bullets to down one, but going by these tales alone & taking them at face value, one definitely can be taken down.

    Also, in the spirit entity versions of the tales (at least the ones I've heard,) they can possess people. So when you see one, it's usually not just a spirit: it's a human whose body has been possessed &, over many years, corrupted by said spirit. There may be other versions I don't know, but that's the spirit wendigo version I've heard of. As I've heard it, they can whisper their temptations to anyone for a while, but only those who give in & commit cannibalism as a human can completely become wendigos. There is a famous case of a man who did just that, then begged to be executed for it before he could begin to change. It was from this & a few others that the term "wendigo psychosis" was coined.

    All in all, not a bad incentive to not eat people when other food grows scarce, regardless of whether it's real or psychological. Turn into a horrifying monster, or think that you are… either way, it's definitely not a pleasant outcome.

  29. Here in our hugely vast Ontario wilderness, the Ojibwe and Cree indigenous peoples call them the Windigo. There have been many sightings and encounters of them by hunters, hikers, loggers, railers, miners and campers.

  31. My folks live 30 minutes from jamseg hwy 695 from the episode "the lair of the windigo" I checked out this area and it's a forest with nothing but just birch trees. I can see how this creature could easily blend in.

    I also spoke to two Rangers from a Provincial Park in Alberta this summer and they told me a story from a place called poverty Rock.

    They were on their way out from this park and in order to get out you have to go up a steep hill along a ridge. They said that when they got close to the gate at the top they looked across and saw this giant half deer half wolf looking thing. He quickly rushed to the other side of the gate to get a better view and they saw it one more time. When it acknowledged their presence it sank into the shrubs and it seemed to have vaporized into thin Air. Because of this report Rangers and maintenance crew were not allowed to go to this park on their own after there had to be a minimum crew of three. I was an employee at this park and this is a true story.

  36. I don't think of it as being devided on the topic of the windigo they are a demon ( of blood lust and feeding on human flesh) and when possessed by it the person becomes the monster talked about.

  38. The first wedigo you shown us, the audience, I thought the face looked like eddy from Iron Maiden. Around 12- 14 minutes in standing on the left side view of the trees was DEFINITELY sloth from the goonies lol! As always great work mate. I'm a big fan of your work….18 mins in and Freddy from nightmare on Elm Street. Now the ghostbusters lol

  40. Nate and his best friend zeben went camping. They both got drunk and zeben passed out. When he woke up he realized some one butt raped him. Through process of elimination they realized it wasn't nate, and he couldn't have butt raped himself. So the only conclusion is big foot did it. And now they go camping every weekend trying to find Bigfoot.

  44. That was a pleasure to watch. Loved the animation, and we spotted Superman making a guest star appearance. The image of the Wendigo itself was creepy. Well researched and beautifully presented as ever.
    As someone else said, it is not that the Wendigo is moving into our domain, rather we are moving into its domain, and just like a meeting of different animals, there are bound to be clashes over territory.

  48. This needs to be a movie. There’s an episode of an old anthology show called Fear Itself that has a Wendigo episode that’s also pretty creepy! Makes me think a movie version would do well and really hasn’t been done with great success yet

  49. yeah no, if you accidentally eat the wrong mushroom, you KNOW you've eaten the wrong mushroom, whether it makes you see god or sends you directly to him. you don't just see one wendigo and then continue on with the rest of your night, the woods would be melting.
