The MINI Aceman takes a bit of the Countryman’s SUV styling, and applies it to a compact hatchback that makes it the ideal option for anyone who likes the three-door-only electric MINI Cooper but needs a bit more practicality. But there’s a lot of competition at this price, ranging from five-door hatches like the Renault 5 E-Tech and Peugeot e-208 to bigger alternatives like the Kia EV3.
The Aceman shards its platform and drivetrain bits with the Cooper, which means a choice of either 38.5kWh li-ion NMC battery in the entry-level Aceman E, or 49.2kWh in the Aceman SE, for a WLTP range of up to 185- or 252 miles respectively. Those are the usable battery capacities, too, so you can work out how much a full charge would cost using those figures. If you’re paying 20p per kWh then it’d be £9.84 for a full charge in the SE, for instance, or £4.43 if you’re paying an overnight tariff of 9p per kWh.
As for real-world range, I managed 3.8 miles/kWh (which is mpg for electric cars) on a warm day and in varied conditions in the Aceman SE on 19-inch wheels, which is equivalent to just over 180 miles of range. We haven’t spent time in the Aceman in the UK, yet, but on that basis I’d expect the SE to manage 160- to 210 miles of range depending on conditions, while the E will more likely do around 120 – to 160 miles. You also get a heat pump as standard, which should help with cold weather efficiency.

Range is too low😢
Already nobody likes EVs so let's make them super ugly to make sure nobody will buy them

Way way WAY to expensive for what you actually get. It's like an iPhone on wheels – overpriced meeeehhh. Nahhh, I'd rather wait for the Renault 4 E-Tech.
hmm, underwhelmed. How long can BMW cash in on the Mini brand with such lacklustre products.
It reminds me of Stilettos which makes sense considering it's targeted for the same type of consumer. Those that prefer styling over function. FWIW I have a friend who was the manager of the largest BMW/Mini dealership in New Jersey, USA for over a decade. One of the perks was a new Mini every six months that he promptly gave to his wife while he preferred a Honda S2000 and various BMWs.
When does a mini cease becoming a mini?
Maybe something like the size of a BUS becoming a mini bus !!

As a previous owner of both a Gen1 and Gen3 Cooper S the deviation away from the brilliant design of the Stephenson Gen1 doesn't do it for me.
Cloth on dashboards, too difficult to clean, I don't want to have to vacuum the dashboard. MINI are not the only ones guilty of this. Same goes for door cards, in every car I have ever owned the door cards get wet when I open the doors in the rain, and kids have very sticky fingers. Car designers, nice easy to clean hard wearing vinyl please.

I'm now enjoying my second Mini. But don't think I'll be getting a third. This new range isn't for me. I'll keep my current one for as long as possible, then probably move to something else… A shame, as I've been a fan since the 70's.
Is it really comparable in size to the Volvo EX30? It looks a lot smaller

They have taken the original car and turned it into something completely different. Its a bigger car and utterly away from what the Mini was. A, simple car for the masses.

Would I go for this Mini or a Volvo Ex30? No contest, I would have a Smart or Hyundai. This is as mentioned earlier, made in co-operation with Lego.
It is a great year if you’re a fan of……the Countryman (or Kias), if you’re a fan of MINI Cooper, it’s been rather disappointing
