  1. Al Jazeera covered this a couple of years ago in Cambodia covering the issue in Sihanoukville. It's been common knowledge to everyone including expats. Warnings about these jobs are also common, but people see the jobs advertised on Facebook for one example and are easily duped by the 'salary' that's offered. They usually ask for people from India, Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines but ask they speak good English yet never ask for native English speakers to apply.

  2. sadly, almost all of those who come here to cambodia and responsible for these scam centers, "casino jobs", etc are newly arrived chinese and they target younger and/or undereducated khmer. its heartbreaking and damaging on so many levels

  3. Cambodia needs to make every recruiter and job broker register with the government. If they are not register , that means they are scammers. If they are caught recruiting with register, 2 years prison time.

  5. This has been going on for a long time. In Phnom Penh the Cambodian government allowed the Chinese police to go in and arrest them. Yes they shutdown these scam centres but incredibly I've never known a foreign police force to operate in a foreign country.
