Brits Make DEVILED EGGS For The First Time! What are Deviled Eggs ????? #deviledeggs #dressedeggs

What are Deviled Eggs?

Deviled eggs are a popular appetizer made from hard-boiled eggs that are cut in half, with the yolks scooped out, mixed with various seasonings, and then piped or spooned back into the egg whites. The classic filling typically includes mayonnaise, mustard, and a touch of vinegar or lemon juice for tang. Salt, pepper, and paprika are commonly used for seasoning, and paprika is often sprinkled on top for garnish.

Variations on deviled eggs can include ingredients like bacon, pickles, hot sauce, herbs like chives or dill, and even seafood like shrimp or crab. They’re a versatile dish, often served at parties, picnics, or holiday gatherings because they’re easy to prepare in advance.

The name “deviled” comes from the 18th century and refers to the spicy or zesty flavor that some recipes incorporate. You can adjust the spiciness depending on preference, with some versions including cayenne pepper or other hot spices.

  2. I could never eat 3 hard boiled eggs but somehow I have to restrain myself to not down a half dozen deviled eggs. They are one of my favorites. Especially if made by someone else!

  3. I won't be too harsh on your presentation since it was your first time, but with these, technique is everything. First of all, after you peel your eggs, refrigerate them. That's why you lost one. If they were cold, they would've cut easier. Second, you lost half your egg yolk to the bowl. You shouldn't have lost any. Use a spatula when mixing. You can press it against the sides more to get them creamier, and when you remove them from the bowl, you van get all of it out. Lastly, put your yolk into a plastic sandwich bag, then, cut off a corner. You can then pipe the yolk back into the egg, and it won't look so messy. Oh, and next time, lightly dust the paprika after filling, but before pitting your bacon on. (I never use bacon) and put the paprika in one hand, and use the pinch and hold your hand high (like a chef with salt) so you get a more uniform dusting. I didn't touch ingredients, but here in America, we have a mayo alternative called Miracle Whip. You can try that as well instead of mayo.

  4. theyre fairly easy to make. although my recipe is better(pickle relish and minced onion) You did well. Thing about deviled eggs is you have polished off a whole dozen of them before you realize it. since they are almost universally liked they go fast in party settings.

  5. I found that the best way to cook them is to, cook them at a boil for 10min. Then put them in a pot of ice water (with ice) for 20min. They should peel easy and the yoke should fall out of the white easily.

  6. My critique: Too much mayonnaise. Too much bacon per egg that was chopped too large. Question – How hard were the egg whites – soft or on the rubbery/chewy side? Except for the bacon & paprika, mix all the ingredients together at the same time. I use a half teaspoon (12 eggs or less) up to 1 teaspoon (18+ eggs) of sweet pickle relish in mine. To me, Dill Pickle Relish is too harsh for the eggs. Use two spoons to fill the eggs if you don't use a piping bag of sorts. Deviled Egg Eating Etiquette – Bite like a Lady = Mrs. H. My family always boiled their eggs at a roiling boil for 12 to 20 minutes. When cut open, they had the blue-green sulfur dioxide ring around the yolk and the whites were like eating rubber pencil erasers so I stopped eating them and this is back when I had teeth. Thirty years ago on the America's Test Kitchen TV show, I learned to make steamed eggs, have not looked back since, and everyone loves my deviled eggs. Place the desired number of eggs in a pan in a single layer (refrigerated is fine) cover with tap water by 1 inch. Put on stove burner, bring to a boil, and boil for 2 minutes (set a timer). Remove to a cold stove burner and cover with the pan lid for 14 minutes (set a timer). Dip the eggs into the ice water bath for 5 minutes, then peel. I sometimes have to use the ice bath water to remove all of the egg shell. Place on paper towels to dry and let cool down to room temperature. Pat eggs dry before slicing and continue with your favorite recipe. When you press the egg white to the roof of your mouth with your tongue it will mash apart and be very enjoyable. Cover the Deviled Eggs and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, if not over night before serving. I use this same cooking method when I am making boiled eggs for egg salad or any other recipe that calls for boiled eggs. As has been mentioned, there are Deviled Egg plates for serving (round or oval or tiered) and covered plastic Deviled Egg containers (rectangle that only holds 20 deviled eggs) for transporting them to other venues.

  7. I love deviled eggs under one condition, no sweet relish or pickles (love them outside the egg). Once you add sweet, they are no longer deviled. They should call them angelic eggs down south. I was fooled when offered one in the Carolinas, ooooooooohhhhhhh deviled eggs!!! SPIT SPIT SPIT. Why the HELL are the DEVILED eggs sweet??? Oh pickles. You understand DEVILED means zesty or spicy…. not sweet

  8. Next food tryout: Homemade Peanut Butter cookies (about 4 inches round or square) and Homemade or Canned Vegetable Beef Soup. This was a school lunch item (canned soup) that I looked forward to when it was served. The fact that we got to eat a sweet cookie with our lunch. 🥳 I was surprised to discover that peanut butter cookies worked with vegetable beef soup. 😀

  9. Deviled eggs is one of those recipes where you can really mess with it. Much like you can change up mashed potatoes with all kinds of things.

Some like the bite of mustard and vinegar. Some like it sweet and prefer miracle whip, sweet relish or even a sprinkling of sugar.

Make them a dozen or so times and you’ll have an idea of how you want them. Then you’ll really get how we say we can eat:

    Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs

    Dinner: 37 deviled eggs.

  10. My family prefers it with sweet relish added. We had a family gathering with both the sweet relish and dill relish varieties present and the sweet were gone within 10 minutes.

  11. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE deviled eggs! They are a bit finicky to make, but they do taste great. Commonly here in the US, the deviled eggs you buy in stores are not nearly as good as home made. They don't have enough mustard or seasonings. But home made ones are very popular for holidays, picnics and family gatherings.

  12. I could eat deviled eggs all day. I always grab them whenever I see them. Start with two, don't want to be greedy, but I always go back for more until they're gone or I'm too full to eat anything more.

  13. I recently learned if you gently tap one end of the egg to crack the shell just a tiny bit before adding it to the water, the shell peels off very easily. Six attempts later, they were all successful except for one egg that I cracked too much. It's definitely a skill.
