In Canada, in 1999, doctors were alarmed by the death of a woman in her fifties who died of cryptococcal meningitis. In the following years, they treated dozens of other patients exhibiting pneumonia-like symptoms: shortness of breath, weight loss, and severe headaches. Following several studies and research, they understand that Vancouver Island is home to a very dangerous fungus. Veterinarians, in turn, reported dozens of cases in the animal population. The fungus does not affect a single species. Genetic analyses led to the conclusion that this new form of cryptococcus was identical to a common form found in Australia. Doctors find themselves with as many new questions as answers.

Man , that island is cat lady central .
No. One. Cares.
For being experts they sure are stupid for not wearing N95 masks while they were collecting samples all-round those trees!
Very enlightening. Thank you.
My dearest sister died of this fungus in Australia…
that, is what brought her sad and sudden end…
I kept thinking of my sweet sister….
How are you gonna travel after getting out of hospital. Scary situation. 😮
It could be migratory birds carrying and bringing the fungus. It's a shame many people don't take these things seriously . We still have COVID circulating and it's incredible how quickly disease outbreaks can become pandemic. I have often said that humans are a forgetful bunch.
🫣🦠🌲🌳
I was surprised that the scientists walking through the forest and checking the trees were not wearing PPD's.

The provincial park that everyone goes to is Rathtrevor in Parksville. People from all over the world go there to go camping . I live in a Douglas fir forest and burn Douglas fir firewood all winter. Been doing it for 50 years. Meanwhile people from all over the world come here to retire and I guess their bodies just can not handle it. It is becoming a little over crowded and wish that maybe people hear this story and consider maybe just not going there anymore. That would be great imho.
It wouldn't have anything to do with all the crap they are spraying over the entire island almost daily, naah.
How about all the chemtrails … our skies are filled with crisscross streams of ??? Also the jabbed are getting sicker … hmmm

😮The documentary is funny. Born raised and 5th generation..yep keep anymore people from moving here i am in. Too crowded and expensive.
Also this documentary should get Geography right. We don't have a bay between Vancouver the city and Vancouver Island.
Its called A Stright…Stright of Georgia to be correct. And its like miles wide and long…lol
This is pretty funny really you can tell it's an American documentary 😂
I am always in the forest..won't stop.
I an not surprised of it being in a warm climate we are getting warmer every year.
Lumber companies cut down old grown trees they shouldn't on a regular basis!
Why not remove some of these diseases trees?
They all appear to be on the rotting wood as well.
So what is the name of the park? Thanks for not informing us which Park is the worst, sheesh I thought you were informing us all is does is scare the shit out of everyone not knowing which park is the deadliest
Yes, tourists did develop this respiratory fungus.
There is no problem like that here. I raised my kids for 30 here. Then moved to Alberta where no one is outside all winter and everyone is sick. Moved back after 8 years. Everyone is fine here.
Putting up warning signs is a 1/2 measure at best. More needs to be done. Perhaps more young people can go into the field of microbiology in search of an antidote for this invisible enemy.
