This was a bad storm, but it was likely an average hurricane compared to others that have hit Florida in the 2000s. The worst thing about this hurricane is that it went through the center of Florida from west to east which is unusual and hit the major population centers directly in the middle of the state. However, this shortened the time the hurricane stayed over the state by going across the thin part of the state instead of going up from the south across the entire state like past hurricanes usually do.
