  1. It's funny because the movie I saw 1408 is this one but the ending is that he is saved (because his message to come to 1408 with the internet had somehow managed to get through to his wife) and he has the tape recorder as evidence to his wife in scene end, his life changes definitively because he lived that experience, before he was apathetic and didn't believe in anything.
This is the negative ending, I saw the positive ending…I didn't know there was an alternative ending ahahah

  2. The best part of the movie is Samuel Jackson's hard sell of the room. He puts it over so amazingly, bribing, warning, threatening and all but begging Cusak's character NOT to stay there, and then ultimately, when it's clear he's dead-set on it, resigning to apathy- he already knew, and it was that which finally put a doubt in the non-believers mind. Fear crept in. And man, as a viewer, we were already sold.

  3. There not being a 13th Floor is actually a thing. Many older buildings do not have a 13th Floor due to superstition. They do of course have a 13th floor, they just don't count it as 13.. they skip that #. I know there are other ways they handle it (some may have the floor but keep it as storage only etc.

I hope it's not done any longer but it definitely used to be. You can find many older buildings in the northeast like that.

  4. Samuel L Jackson was great in this. If he showed me that many deaths there's no way I'd stay in that room 😮 And the speed that he got out of there was a great indicator that u didn't want to be the next one in that room.

  5. I don’t know if it was a cautionary story or urban legend, creepy pasta or whatever, but there was this story I heard about buildings labeling floor 13 as 14. I don’t know if you remember back some years the bungee jumping fever where people were throwing themselves bungeeing off anything they could (dumb IMO). Well there was this guy, let’s call him Dummy for the story, in NYC that figured the length of the cord based on certain amount of feet per floor. Dumbathan forgot there was not a 13th floor, it was labeled as 14, so he jumped with bout 13 or 14 (ironic) feet too long of a cord kissing the ground and saying good night as he geeted out of existence. Like I said, IDK if that really happened, but it stayed with me all these years. 🎃

  6. Building's sometimes don't have 13th floors because of superstition. 1408 if you add the numbers one at a time it equals 13. 13th room on the 13th floor. Next time you get on an elevator you will notice from now on there's usually not a number 13

  7. “1408” adds up to “13” … thirteen is considered unlucky…The hotel sent him the postcard…The Hotel is haunted, the original caretaker and his family dies on the 14th floor…the hotels energy has transformed it into a mind bending element that forces you to confront you demons and come to term with them or take the easy way out by “ending it.” Even in death you cannot escape you become “apart” of the room. BTW, the director’s cut has a much different ending.

  8. The corporation that owns the hotel did not want there to be a 13th floor out of superstition. One of the theories about the room is that since the 14th floor is technically the 13th floor, the room is cursed because the numbers 1408 add up to the number 13. Also, I feel too that the original theatrical ending is the best.
