  1. great part of the story , which some reactors cut away from ……is when The Danish man captured with Buchanan ..comments ……That if you have you to be captured with someone …..it's best it be an American " …..because he knew America would not stop until the hostages were released .

  2. I was very surprised at how calm, steady and composed both of you were through this video. It was as if you had already watched it 500 times and the happenings were old hat. I have watched this 8 times in the last 3 years and still shed tears while watching…even as I reacted to you. It makes me wonder what it would take to get either of you get emotional.

  3. It always get me watching reactors to this. The men seemed shocked when jessica said she feared theyd rape her. In this case (forgive me, i dont know your names) the gentleman eyes went wide with surprise. But the lady didnt even blink with a slight nod. I promise you, ANY woman would think exactly same. Lets be honest, though it does happen, its still unlikely the men would be raped. Its not in most mens fear bag, but it is in every womans. So often were prey. That is a fact. Thats howbad guys see us, an easy mark. They may find out differently once were attacked and if she has training or just fights back withbsuch ferocity it repels said bad guy. But they initially view us weak and there to do what they want, their entertainment.

  4. Wow. Hearing it from her is so powerful. I can't even imagine the physical and mental stress she expirenced. As for the NAVY SEALS, GOD bless them. They have done more stuff like this that we never hear about, and thats EXACTLY how they like it. They see it as "it just what we do" and "just doing our job". AMAZING.

  5. Glad y'all did this video it gives a more emotional aspect everyone can relate to about her rescue. When there comes to a situation with a military solution there is no one better at the job than the American military.

  6. Justin K. Sheffield was a leader of this squad. He's since retired and written a couple books about his service.

I believe the US military doesn't even acknowledge the existance of Seal Team 6. The even numbered squads are based in Virginia, the odd numbered squads from California.

They skydived in from 20,000 feet and walked the final few miles to the camp. Using night vision they were able to get very close to the kidnappers. The Seals pointed their infared lasers at the kidnappers. Without night vision the kidnappers never even saw the multiple lasers that targeted them.

  7. Better Video but and it is a big but. If you have not read her book or listened to an hour-long interview of her, there is so much more to the story. Her co-worker knew she was going to0 be kidnapped. Her "Security Team" was paid 100,000.00 Dollars to have her kidnapped. The US knew exactly where she was at all times and could even listen to them at times. American financiers were involved in her kidnapping.

  8. You both should react to how many foreign militaries were so glad to have American soldiers on their teams for many reasons…but mainly because the U.S. always came to get everyone out in impossible odds and or evening the oddly chances. Theirs so many things they do that we'll never know about..but its nice to hear some of the incredible things that are brought to light.

  9. So the Movie, Black Hawk Down was released in 2001. Jessica and Poul were kidnapped in October 2011. Did they assume things got safer in Somalia? Well, no. These aid workers are crazy for putting themselves into a known bad situation. Ignorance is no excuse. I mean i am happy she was rescued.

  10. Jessica has spoken to SEAL groups and gatherings, and has worked to raise money for the SEAL widows and orphans charities. She now has 2 children I believe. My older brother was career Navy and spent many years as a SEAL including 2 tours in Viet Nam. I had the honor and good fortune of meeting and getting close to many of them. They are the finest kind.

  11. Thanks for the terrific, thoughtful reaction. I was one of the many who suggested you watch the story from Jessica's point of view because we knew you'd be touched by the horror she went through and the bravery she displayed. I'm sure when the Seals showed up out of the blue, she must have wondered whether she was dreaming or hallucinating. I've watched this interview several times and it brings tears to my eyes every time, so thanks again.

  12. And what makes it worse is the temperature extreme shifts. 130° during the day down to 40° at night. I know this for a fact. I was in the Navy Seabees and spent 2&1/2 months in Somalia for operation Restore Hope.
