Are The Wave 2 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course DLC Tracks Good? | Level By Level

Mario Kart 8 deluxe, after 5 years of being the Nintendo switch’s best selling game, is finally getting DLC in the form of the booster course pack. This is going to be bringing 48 retro tracks to mario kart deluxe from super mario kart, mario kart 64, mario kart super circuit, mario kart double dash, mario kart DS, mario kart wii, mario kart 7, and mario kart tour! The second wave of the dlc dropped a few days ago containing two cups, the turnip cup and propeller cup. That brought over a total of 8 tracks, New York minute, Mario Circuit 3, Kalimari Desert, Waluigi Pinball, Sydney Sprint, Snow Land, Mushroom Gorge, and Sky-High Sundae. In today’s episode of level by level we’re going to take a look at all 8 of these tracks to see if they’re good or bad retro tracks and put them in a tier list! Oh and Coconut Mall got updated too, neat!

I will respectfully disagree, I do believe remaster tracks should be changed to fit the modern era, but, changing it drastically (Mario Circuit GBA with the zero grav) ruins the nostalgia.

  2. I absolutely think that Wave 2 is better than Wave 1.

Not only do the tracks visually look WAY better than the first wave (still not as good as the base game, but they're fine), but I think they just picked more diverse/better tracks to bring back. While I'm not a fan of SNES tracks being brought back, I think you're being WAY to harsh on Mario Circuit 3. The track is fine, it's fine visually, overall it's fine. I feel like most people just bash it because it's a SNES track. It's fine. In that same vein, people overrate the crap out of Waluigi Pinball.

Sydney Sprint and Sky High Sundae are two of my new favorite tracks. They're very well done, and super fun to race on without being a huge mess like Ninja Hideaway.

New York Minute is solid, but more than anything I feel like they're going to add Mushroom City or Moonview Highway now that they have the night time city assets in the game.

  3. Waluigi Pinball would place for me in A, purely because it was the perfect track to add anti-gravity. I know they're mostly just porting from Tour but especially with the graphics being drastically different from the base game, I expect a little bit of effort into making them feel more like MK8 tracks instead of MKT tracks.

  4. Guys, I got it they remade Mario Circuit 3 because it is the third Mario Circuit track in 8. The first two are in flower and shell respectively. Either that or they really wanted to make people mad by changing a cool arrow into a box (22:05), or thought it was important to move some of the pipes and make it even easier (pipe credit to TWD98).

  5. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Waluigi Pinball is just a high B tier for me. It doesn’t add anything to the 3DS version apart from HD looks. I was honestly a little disappointed even. Maybe I grow fond of it over time, but more than low A tier isn’t really justified for me.

  6. Honestly, Mario circuit serves as that one simple track which is fine to me because after playing an exciting tour track, you need a simple track to calm you down like shroom ridge, toad circuit and snow land.

  7. I like how the base game retro tracks were altered so that the actual track had little bumps and the turns were raised a bit, that alone would have made Mario circuit 3 better

  8. I'm most likely in the minority, but I honestly like the inclusion of Mario Circuit 3. I like seeing a few simple tracks mixed into the chaos of the other tracks in 8 Deluxe. Personally, I like trying to take the corners as fast as possible while also trying to avoid the sand.

Don't crucify me since that is just my opinion (but it's the internet so opinions aren't allowed)

  9. Sydney sprint’s music slaps so hard, it’s the perfect mix of exciting and beautiful honestly. It makes me feel really nostalgic even though it’s not old, and regardless of what people say about the dlc mario kart’s music team clearly know what they’re doing
