Also I don't think the success mark on the events is the same as the difficulty.
Your ability minus the difficulty modifier is always exactly your roll modifier.
I presume your roll +/- the modifier is then your % of success 🤷♂
If the result is below 100 you will presumably still fail occasionally even at 99.

I told you this yesterday if you look up to the right top corner of the screen on the resources screen it shows you your research points (the screen that you analyze your findings)
