IXION | Sci-fi Survival / Colony Management Gameplay & Details – FROSTPUNK IN SPACE?

IXION is an upcoming sci-fi survival city builder / colony management game that takes some core principles from Frostpunk and launches them into space. From a compelling, mysterious narrative centred around the end of a sustainable earth, to a focus on resource management, survival, and human nature, IXION has piqued my interest. We’ll be diving into some gameplay from the Steam Next Fest demo and highlight key details that show how IXION will play when it releases later this year. IXION could be quite a unique sci-fi city builder set in space, and with Frostpunk acting as a bit of an inspiration (as per the developers themselves), there’s a lot of potential here.

  1. I hope it improves on Frostpunk, its a great game, but once you've beaten a scenario, there is no re-playability. Also Id like to see more than two fanatical roads in the game, like, not just different dystopian flavors, but a few hopeful or neutral resolutions, that might make the scenario even harder to manage in some aspects but isn't completely shooting yourself in the foot. When it comes to Sci fi games I enjoy more complexity in the morality than what I would expect out of the 1700s. Here is hoping they can make it happen. Also as the station has sections, it be cool if some sort of co-op multiplayer could be arranged with that, or maybe even a fleet mechanic.

  2. 3:16 that's not a space station, that's the space ship itself. It has those big engines and the rings are there to provide artificial gravity since the journey is gonna be a long one, I mean, nobody wants to lose muscle mass and bone density due to microgravity lol, btw this game looks really good

  3. A compelling narrative, sets a game aside from its lessor fellows.
I loved te concept of Frostpunk, but sadly the execution and the lack of UI modification, small text on bright white backgrounds, made it, sadly, unplayable for me.
Ixion seems to offer something similar, but better.

  4. Frostpunk isn't exactly the reference I was hoping for, I disliked the strategy element of the game because it's a very linear path to success instead of allowing multiple options to succeed.
