I'm gonna be rotating between, insect glaive, charge blade, switch axe, and dual blade
The only weapon I didn't like in the past is the Bow and the Heavy Bowgun
You missed the best weapon, in Generations that Palico was a beast, wish they added them back. Had so much fun with them.
BOW ALL DAY!
Started with sword and shield after watching your videos on MHR as a monster hunter Virgin. Now I've been fully committed to gunlance since higher rank 1. Love this game
I Have The Power Of God And Anime On My Side Im Longsword
Great info! I have been pretty much exclusively using the Dual Blades since I like to be fast, but this has made me interested in trying out some other things, especially the Insect Glaive!
"pick this weapon if you have a master's degree in mechanics"
*Me a mechanical engineer*: okay 🙂
Your using pc?
The graphics is so clear
You will catch me using any sword taller than I am.
Definitely using the bow! Might play around with long sword, insect glaive, and sword and shield also.
I love charge blade's sound effect when charging phials, so I choose charge blade as my weapon since MHW haha
I've tried every weapon multiple times and gotta say I'm stuck between lance and IG. Lance is reliable but I love flying around and using a bunch of different combos on IG. For new people I'd recommend trying out everything a couple of times and even if you don't like something at first you might like it later on when you have more experience. I started off in World as a hammer main now I rarely touch it and hated both lance and IG when I first tried them
Man they butchered HH…. its sad to see such a deliberate and precise weapon just turned into an ungaboonga stick like hammer. Not to say hammers bad, but we don't need two hammers… its practically a new weapon tbh and its not terrible, but damn does it not feel like hunting horn anymore.
Also loving the Lance love in chat. Such an underrated weapon. Love just shield bopping some dragons snoot.
Other reasons to use a Sword and Shield:
1) Non-committal attacks mean ample room for evasion and repositioning, allowing you to attack more often and run away less.
2) Unlike most weapons, SnS can deal serious slashing and blunt damage.
3) Working shield attacks into your combos lets you deal stamina damage, tiring monsters out and flinching them more often.
4) Being able to use items with your weapon drawn is still an awesome feature.
5) You have a shield, and it will save your life.
I main charge blade. I would use long sword but it feels slow in rise
Went with the charge blade and hammer to start. My better half just got the game so I'm gonna try some quicker weapons soon.
They should add two more weapons in the next mh game a staff and nunchuks
I'm having such a hard time picking between longsword and switch axe. I keep switching back and forth
I been watching arekkz since the good ol' days of mh4u and to this day I still love his content. Keep it up!!!
What weapon is right for you? The one which after a few hours of hunting various monsters, makes you want to kill yourself the least!
What's a good weapon for solo play? I'm in MR 2 currently and am struggling with my Dual Blades. It's a lot harder to find matches in multiplayer mode and I'm having to do a lot of stuff solo now.
I guess bow just doesn't exist
heavy bowgun… once you do a 1500 dmg one hit and realize all the CC and utility available at your fingertips on top of that… It's hard to go back to anything else.
I recently jumped back into Rise for update 3 and decided that I've done enough with the HH so I started with the Hammer. I'm enjoying it so far missing the buffs from the HH but I'll adapt 😂
What if your insane and play all 14 weapons
I have been using hammer the most but in all honesty I really can't pick a main. The only weapons I haven't tried yet are CB, IG, longsword, lance, and switch axe. I keep swapping between all the others depending on the monster. I remember when I played world for the first time, I grabbed a switch axe cause it was cool sounding but gave up cause I was young and it was difficult. I'll prolly go back and try it out in rise
I loved Glaive in World. I hope I can still go all in on it in Rise.
Maybe double daggers or katana as a back up.
The insect glaive is good for people who want their team to forget they are there for 70% of the hunt.
I love the hammer I use GL on switch version and hammer on xbox
Switch axe for life.
Would dual swords be fine for a beginner?
You said charge blade is both a sword and an axe. Didnt you mean switchblade ? Charge blade is SnS and an axe
I'm a total fan of the bow. Second the dual blades.
I love the greatsword. Seeing big numbers makes my brain happy
Where's the Bow? I only counted 13
Crying bout hunting horn honestly, went from my fav weapon to something I never wanna see again
can you switch weapons during your playthrough
Honestly, I've always had a mental grid for "which weapon I want to use today" sort of questions. I have always been able to separate things into these primary categories:
Item Knowledge —- Weapon Knowledge
(Some weapons like bows and bowguns and SNS actually benefit more from you knowing not only where things like endemic life are, but custom radial crafting menus and usage of certain items mid-fight. SNS basically gains 'attacks' so to speak depending on your items just because it can use them without sheathing the weapon. Other weapons just want whetstone, health potions, maybe a trap, power/armor charms/talons, and well-done steak.)
Technical —- Direct
(Weapons like Longsword and Charge Blade are incredibly technique-focused weapons who's entire playstyle DEPENDS on building meter and landing specific combo hits or else the fight turns into a slog. Weapons like Dual Blades just need to concern themselves with pushing R2 every now and then. This also includes how much monster knowledge you need for windows and counter opportunities.)
Mobility —- Power
(IG can dance, literally, around entire encounters and land needle-like hits where it needs to. Greatsword just slaps things once)
The last is range, but honestly it's secondary compared to the other things above. The traits above, I feel, are absolutely core to any particular weapons and if rated on a scale of 1-10 of each accurately demonstrates the weapon's playstyle adequately.
Yo Arekkz Gaming deserves the success, his videos are so good.
I have honestly never given any other weapon a chance because of the basic movements sometimes not up to expectations but once you watch the in depth guides omg 😱 so many unique playstyles for each weapon makes it so worth it to invest 30 minutes watching a in depth guide just to understand the weapon
The thought goes like this:
You want a ranged or a melee weapon?
If melee:
You want a shielded or unshielded weapon?
If Shielded:
Your choices are lance, gunlance , sns and chargeblade
If Unshielded:
You want a bladed or bludgeoning weapon?
Easier way to narrow it down.
Of course you could just ask if they like explosions and then say gunlance or hgb sticky 😂
