We will definitely have to wait and see what evidence TPC and Nintendo bring forth.

Hey Ed, have you heard about the situation going on with Digital Tamers 2 and the person trying to take credit for DragonRod's work?
Big L for Nintendo
Patent infringement can be a scary thing and it can be a game mechanic or the UI or just how a monster flies with patent infringement this could be very scary and it can hurt other games not just palworld if Nintendo wins
It’s official guys, nintendo thinks they own the rights to balls
i mean i already sold my switch, but this just solidifies that ill never give any money to nintendo or the pokemon company again. theyre nothing but burdens to the genre.
It will be interesting to see what happens if they win. And what happens to people who bought the game and if they can still play it or get a refund.
Palworld, is a monster taming game… That does not make it Pokémon. They don't have any gameplay that are similar, except for the idea of having monaters that does thing for you… And the breeding system, except that the breeding system is not at all the same, other than you need a female and a male.
Palworld is more like Arc, according to my bro, I have never played Arc, but he says that you use dinos to do your stuff for you. So kinda the similar. But some of the models are very much inspired or stolen from Pokémon, but then again, Pokémon did steal many of their designs from japanese folklore.
They fucking suck. They're just mad that Palworld is better than every Pokemon game they've released since Black/White 2.
Throwing the spheres is what they are going after them for
Patterns that was filed AFTER palworld was released and boil down to "throwing something" and "mounting something".
This is 100% a malisiuse lawsuit and all I can hope is that Nintendo is a papier tiger and poketpare calls their bluff.
Designs aside becuse that's just, u know. but It could be about the catching mecanic that did feel much like the first pokemon Legends game, and that was honestly kinda new at the moment, Wich, sure, but if it's about Link using a glider I'm going to scratch my head and look over at every other game using a glider. Palworld allways feelt like a asset-heavy game to me, It's fun in its own rights but yeah. we'll see what happens to it.
Patents are inventions not designs, I think Nintendo is stretching because they are salty about competition
Patent infringement not copyright
OK lawsuit sure its nitendo after all but why now im mean the game has been out for 8 months so that tells me 2 things either 1 nitendo is out of touch with the world or 2 and more logical they waited for palworld to bring in the money and then take legal action so they can reap the benefits
Well, aside from the means to capture monsters, I do also think indie monster taming games need to stop with going with the pokemon design philosophy, of where the monsters look blatantly like pokemon because of their cutesy designs.
It took 9 months they are most likely trying to drain pocket pair
Pokémon/Nintendo won the Lawsuit against Palworld
The patents seem to be regarding the catching motion (throwing the ball in the direction of the monster) and possibly mounting monsters near water, cliffs, sky, etc. Kind of silly that something as simple as that can be patented.
Wouldn't surprise me if they are doing this to drain PocketPair's wallet…then if Nintendo finds "evidence" of the monster designs being copied, go after them again to force them out of business.
everyone quick by the game before it's gone
1) A lot of their patents are extremely recent, some as new as this very month.
2) Most if not all of their patents are extremely broad, with things that essentially equate to riding a bike or throwing an object at a target.
I seriously hope this does not go in Nintendo's favor, it could severely stifle future game development across multiple genres.
The one time Nintendo could have made a sue that some people would support, and they go and sue for something completely different!
I dropped Pokémon for the games not worth the effort for the price and game freak lying about why they were cutting the dex. I can't see how they got any patent for the mechanics in the first place.
Early morning response for me too.
I hope PocketPair wins.
Odds are someone at Nintendo/TPC dug into their code and found something similar in design to a patent they own
Also patent and copyright are not the same thing, so it actually can't be about the creature designs unless Japanese law defines that differently
Pretty sure nintendo is going after Palworld and no other monster tamer for the sole fact, that Palworld has some adult themes in it, such as guns and chopping up and eating Pals. Palworld did a massive amount in sales and attracted a lot of attention so I'm sure Nintendo isn't happy that those themes were spread to that many people. As far as the models being similar to Pokemon, yeah I can see it in some of the Pals but it could also be considered as them using Pokemon for inspiration. Some creatures are original and Nintendo doesn't own birds, or rats, so if someone makes a generic creature, like Pidgey, or Rattata, I don't think Nintendo can really say anything.
Nitendo sue palworld mean you guys can't make better pokemon than gamefreak.
Sounds to me like one of those lawsuits where there really isn't any legitimate grounds for it, but the bigger company files it and holds it in courts for as long as possible to basically drain the funding of the smaller company by the way of legal fees and time investment. It's an extremely scummy tactic that unfortunately risks very little and has worked in the past to completely shut down rival companies.
Seems weird to me that it would be over patents as well. I highly doubt they patented anything in palworld unless they have patents on generic creature concepts like "water penguin" or "fluffy fox".
Might be good for Palworld. Keeps the franchise relevant.
I'm starting to think it wasn't the game that tipped Nintendo over the line, it's the anime and brand agreement.
Palworld intentionally pushed itself as an edgier Pokemon brand. Now they have a multimedia deal with Sony to expand the brand. I wonder if Palworld wasn't so blatantly Pokemon-esque in their designs or did 't pursue the deal with Sony, would Nintendo have pursued suing?
We'll never know at this point but this is now one of the largest legal cases in gaming history.
nintendo didnt need to win on court, they just need to empty their competitor bank, multiple lawsuit is coming and we see this coming day1 palworld release, palworld tag literally 'pokemon with guns' and some pals is original which is fine, but with multiple copy off brand pokemon clone, idk what people expect defending that, idk what the dev thinking with copy paste pokemon its such a dumb idea
I saw some other channels comment on this and apparently Nintendo filed for patents after Palworld released, then filed the lawsuit using those patents LMAO
This is ironic knowing the history of Nintendo when they were a small company and Universal suing them over Donkey Kong. Now Nintendo is the bully.
I think that re-used character mesh for the CGI modals is pretty damming. Palworld is pretty sketchy.
Oh & screw AI artist.
"Pokemon is suing Palworld"
Huh, really? I mean i would have expected this a lot sooner but sure i guess.
"…For patent infringement"
….huh???
TPC and Nintendo are continuously showing their true colors, ruthless bullies who show no appreciation for their fans and instead go out of their way to exploit them. They've become comfortable with selling us sub par products for years and now that someone has given us an alternative, they go on the warpath to destroy everyone's fun…
Patent infringement, not copyright.
A big rule of thumb, innocent until proven guilty.
This is a patent issue and not a copyright issue. Designs fall under copyright which they aren't suing over. They are suing over a patent which is a gameplay system. While we don't actually know what they are suing for it is most likely they are suing over a patent they just acquired which states Nintendo owns the idea of a device that you can aim in a 3D environment to throw at a creature to store it in the device and then later throw that same device to send out the creature to fight for you. There's actually quite a few ways around this like making it so you don't aim the device or just make your game 2d but the idea that Nintendo got this patent at all is extremely dumb.
Nintendo is so scared of competition they sue it
Nintendo corporate is a bunch of overgrown schoolyard bullies and that's the absolute truth. Ridiculous.
Already you made a mistake at start of the video saying Nintendo is suing for copyright, but in actually it about patent which isn't the same as copyright.
Nintendo wanted to attack them, and since they could not do it for copyright and for the designs, they found another thing to do to hurt them. If you followed what they did since forever, you will see a pattern where they are really evil and hateful and destroyed companies and individuals before because they could. They do not see things in a humane form and are ready to tear down everything in their way as long as that keeps them in the game and they will continue to make money. But Nintendo is one of the most evil companies there is.
