It's a bad joke that Russia is dependent on foreign products for key components for its tanks, such as aiming devices.
According to Ukrainian and NATO sources, russian missiles are using processors from old washing machine. Russkies don't need air superiority, neither troops superiority because they retreat to Kiev….
This is why any talk of Russia escalating the war by attacking other NATO countries (the Baltics/Poland) is extremely unlikely except as only a last desperate hope, and even then would be doomed to fail. They literally don't have the equipment to beat Ukraine, to keep the Ukrainians from incursions into Russian territory, but somehow they're supposed to take and hold the Suwalki Gap and capture Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius? Surrrrrrrrrre. Pre-February 2022 I'd still have thought it a reasonable threat, but after 2.5 years of bleeding their airframes, vehicles, munitions, and manpower for the ruins of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and attempting to take Pokrovsk, they are a shell of their former selves. That's even assuming competent leadership, which honestly at this point may be more likely than before as the morons running the show have either been killed or sacked.
They're not really building new tanks at all. More of refurbishing the old ones from storage.

Russia´s biggest problem is it´s leadership structure and their military doctrine.
As long as you have people running the show, that can and will be pleased by marionets boasting all sorts of numbers on anything, you know decision making is based on not even 50% truth, but mostly based on lies, hopes and denial.
Based on above concept leadership expects armies to be sent to war where only divisions are available, divisions to be sent to hotspots where only brigades are available, and brigades to be sent to battles where companies are available etc etc.
Kolonels and generals grown up during the sovyet era, instead of telling the truth and asking if they really should send that battalion of under-equipped conscripts instead of the elite battle ready brigade Moscow is talking about, these people fear for their job and future and maybe even their life. So they will sent those conscripts to suicidal situations and give them a few motorcycles so they didn't lie when the unit was mobile, fast and mechanised.
Beyond that, Russia has allways solved it's problems with numbers and shear will power (or commissars/political officers that will shoot deserters/troublemakers on the spot) and ground it's enemy down to mush before declaring victory.
To me it is insane that Russians, after all this happening to them, are not revolting.
But even if only 5% of russias nuclear missles work every living thing on earth will soon be dead!
The Russians had an advantage over the Nazis in the Second World War for many reasons. The Soviets had learned standardized assembly line production from American engineers. Compared to the Nazis, who had technically superior weapons, it was advantageous to mass-produce, as mass-produced goods were easy to repair and could be built in significantly higher quantities. While the Nazis had problems with their countless different weapon systems, it was much better for the Soviets that the same weapon systems were almost always available. In this scenario, the Soviets just had to keep up the pressure by producing extremely large quantities and sending fighters to the front without end. Despite the technical disadvantage in terms of weapon systems, they were largely at an advantage.
Today, however, the strategies on the battlefield have evolved considerably and it no longer works for the Russians to simply send masses of material and fighters to the front as it did in the Second World War. However, as the Russian military leadership apparently does not want to acknowledge this, the Ukrainians are able to fight back effectively with the help of their modern training, their support from reconnaissance systems from the West and their better equipment (despite a lack of ammunition and declining morale). The fact that the largest tank army and direct neighbor of the attacked country is making such slow progress against a comparatively inferior opponent can only be attributed to the incompetent warfare of its commanders.

Russian leaders continue to believe that it was massive walls of infantry and tanks that beat the Nazis, and they continue to pay for it.
Russia is still fighting with 80 years old WW2 and even older WW1 tactics and material. It is true that their only "tactic" is to overwhelm their opponent with sheer numbers. But as we know, such type of warfare is long gone history. But Ukraine is dependent on western aid mostly from USA. So which one will run out first? Russian troops and material, or western aid to Ukraine. That is what will decide the outcome of this war. " We all " knew from history that russia could prolong its wasteful warfare style for many years, but it too has it's limits and those limits are coming about. Some say it is no more than a year from now and by then russia will be totally screwed in every way, not just in war against ukraine but as nation wide. Then there is the question will russia accept that outcome or will it go further and start using nuclear weapons as mad last resort or will the BRICS alliance aid russia. As we can see, china and india are mostly benefiting from russia's downfall and are buying natural resources dirty cheap, I can't see them taking anymore part in this show and china has it's own plans and the war over taiwan is coming within next 5 years.
At some point Russia will put itself in a situation where it cannot defend against NATO. We all know that NATO will not attack Russia without provocation, but Russia believes that they will. Russia cannot win against a minor foe in Ukrane, there is NO chance against NATO and they know it.

Absolute numbers don't matter. Winning is relative. As long as Russia has more or better than the Ukraine the war isn't over.
Russia is winning… They are fighting a war of attrition. Ukraine is effectively out of men as their well-trained and experienced fighting forces are depleted. This is another case of young men who don’t know each other, killing each other in the name of old men that do.

Although I’d agree with many of the comments here about the state of the russian army and the problems that it’s facing it should also be noted that they are still advancing in some sectors on the front. The problem with this narrative is that it implies that russia will undoubtedly be defeated ( which it will ) but only if we all continue our support. To do this Ukraine still needs lots & lots of equipment. Some analysts predict another 2/3 yrs of war at the current rate of attrition.
I forget what youtuber pointed it out, I think it was Lazerpig, but the way Russia counts its armor is faulty. No one actually counts the armor yards, they simply look at the paperwork that says each yard has x amount, so that's what they claim they have.
I have no doubt they do the same for production and repair. Paperwork says this facility can do 100 tanks a month, then that's what they do.
