It just goes to show how self-absorbed Man is to think that we have any effect on the Earth, when the Earth has no more care for the fate of mankind than your body cares about the tiny critters living on your skin. Just like we wipe out large populations by showering, the Earth periodically cleanses itself in various ways with no regard as to what is living on the surface.

As usual, a very informative and interesting podcast.I heard of these, but never knew the details.
