This week on the island we tried getting running water for our shower! First we treated the outhouse with Pine tar and boiled linseed oil, to help protect it from the elements. Then we started on the water pump, which didn’t go perfectly but in the end we got it working and next trip we plan on getting a longer hose so we can get the shower working! We also got a tent sauna given to us by Bast Sauna for the island, but all the wood I had was wet so we didn’t have time to burn out the stove but its all set up now and we are excited to try it out next week!
We got the water pump, tankless water heater and food given to us by Rävel Kauppa a small Finnish company: https://www.ravelkauppa.com/
Check them out if you are Finland!
The island is completely secluded, has no electricity or plumbing and currently has nothing on it but trees. We want to turn this island into a fully functioning summer cottage with a log cabin, sauna and other amenities. Most of the work is gonna be done in the summer months as the lake freezes in the winter and the weather conditions are tough.
There’s a lot of work to be done as the island is over 2.5 acres (1 hectare) and we have no experience in off-grid living, carpentry or building. So any tips or advice are greatly appreciated, as we are planning on doing everything ourselves and transforming the island into our own little paradise. We’ll document every step of the way, starting from smaller builds to finally – an off-grid log cabin.
Our plan for this year is to put up a platform for a glamping tent, build a floating dock and start cutting down trees to begin the process of building our log cabin.
The island is located in Finland and we bought it in 2024. We are currently both students and we plan to transform the island alongside our studies.
So, subscribe and join us on this adventure. It won’t be fast, it won’t be easy, but it will be fun and challenging. We don’t know what to expect, so be a part of the journey.

The entire EUR pallet in the car made me laugh 😂 could've probably have fit the shower roof instead of that 😀
oh wow those tents are really expensive, you could build a little sauna for that kind of money
That looks like plumbers tape – use between the connectors. Wrap it round the connector on the pump then attach the other connector and it should seal up nice and tight
Google how to use Teflon tape. It will take you places.
I would use a ram pump with a deposit since you have some waterflow. This method doesn't use any electricity nor gasoline
Maybe it’s a good idea to build a small water tower and provide water everywhere by the gravity
😂😂😂 the tape. But your getting there great job so far.
Ideally you need a water tank to fill with the pump having the tank above in the trees and always have running water without using the pump continuously

I'm proud of you, you are out there trying, and, learning as you go. Youtube is an excellent
Learning source.
No biggy, lol. But unscrew all fittings. Use the teflon tape on the threads of all male ends. This wil ensure you not sucking air on inlet, and wont leak any water from outlet side. Making good progress and moving up in the world! Lol. All the best, be safe..
good stuff man

Where can I buy my own Island in Finnland? Do you have a link or something?
Thanks mate for the good laugh with the teflon tape !
I love watching you guys figuring out stuff and improving.
Everyone has to learn one day!
Keep it up❤
Use the tape on the threads of the fitting s
Mason Ramsey has come a long way since that yodelling video
i remember when you had 800 subscribers
Honestly i hate this comment section. This dude just trying to live life and everyone comments shit that hes doing wrong. Every video the comments are filled with people thinking they know the best and talking shit like come on let him do on his way
One thing came to my mind—just an idea. You might want to have some kind of add-on to your kiuas/stone oven where you can heat the water for washing up. Basically, if you have a metal box attached to the stone oven, it should do the trick.
TOP Sauna…portable one. Need to check the site…because I want one ! 🙂 Which model is yours ?
