Royal Navy service member dies after helicopter ditches in English Channel



A member of the Royal Navy has died after a helicopter ditched while conducting night-flying exercises with HMS Queen Elizabeth.

The navy said: โ€œIt is with great sadness that we must report a member of the Royal Navy has died following a training incident last night.

โ€œOur thoughts are with the family โ€“ who have been informed, and all those affected at this sad time. A full investigation will take place.โ€

I remember in the early 1960s…. night flying at sea with 848 Sqn RN………….the helicopters would take off over the South China Sea in pitch blackness, fly away from the ship which only had deck landing lights on, then turn back to the Carrier HMS BULWARK and land, the Marines couldn't wait to get their feet back on TERRA FIRMA…..DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE LOST CREW MEMBER AND HIS FAMILY………..

  2. We don't care. The UK armed forces have been assisting the US in many "missions" in Iraq Afghanistan Syria etc. where hundreds of thousands of innocent people have died.
