Soulmask is a sandbox game that prioritizes an authentic survival experience. As the “last one” blessed with the mysterious mask, players will grapple for survival in a primitive land steeped in mysterious faiths, carving out a path to ascendance. Start from nothing, explore, build, recruit tribesmen to fortify your clan, and ultimately unravel the mysterious truths hidden behind the civilizations of this world.

Merge Soul and Mask
● Envy an NPC’s powerful talent or skill? Make it your own! In Soulmask, synchronize your consciousness with the tribesmen as you recruit them to strengthen your tribe. Possess and take over their bodies and transform into anyone. If you can find them in the game, you can possess them!
● As the game progresses, discover more masks that embody the spirit of ancient heroes. Embody the original appearance of these heroes and their unique abilities: harness the gift of immortality, walk among your enemies concealed in the shadows, fire homing missiles with dead accuracy… Now there are 10 impressive masks for you to discover!

Build a family of talented tribesmen with dynamic personalities.
● Play as a lone wolf without feeling lost or lonely with a multitude of different NPCs. With different personalities and talents, you can recruit bloodthirsty warriors, dexterous hunters, and ingenious craftsmen. . . and even a drunk lazy alcoholic!
● Powerful AI and command support allows you to set up and manage the work flow of clan members with a high degree of freedom: farming, harvesting, assembly line production, base patrol, automatic repair and even maintenance…everything can be automated and customized by you.
● Need a light? Smoke a cig or pop open a beer after a busy day. Take a hot bath and soothe those aching muscles. Your tribesmen will always find something of their own to do after work (or even at work -_-). Dance in the cheerful atmosphere of their tribal bonfire dance!

Diverse action combat based on realistic physics
● The game currently provides 8 different styles of weapons and 75 different supporting combat skills and special action modules, each of which strictly restores the experience of real physical characteristics.
● Tailor your fighting style to defeat your opponents: Smash a feline’s skull with a sledgehammer, or attack flying creatures with spears and arrows—even if you’re a fan of the Fist, find your unique style among boxing masters and assassins!

  1. With all the mess you had I would be giving up on the game too. I did notice some strange stings happening the last couple of weeks myself, but luckily no structures deissapearing and stuff like that. Kudos for your dedication to the game ! Hope to see some more of you builds in the future.

  2. really strange, I used just my normal starting guy to defeat all the bosses. I never had any issues besides an update dropping a new world portal on top of half my main base. could it be I was only running it solo on my own system? or maybe a resource issue because you are streaming while playing the game? I am using a 7800X 3D Cpu and a 6900XT and it ran fine, only time I got lag was in a sand storm in the middle of a huge camp and that was not very bad.

  3. So sad seeing again all that serious issues. I guess most of them are related to your server or the type of the server you are playing on. But that do not make it better and should be fixed.
I'm sitting at 330 hours playtime on the first single player game on my own pc. The list of issues are long even for me, but good luck I did not run into such worse things that happened to you.

Worst thing that happened to me is murdering a tribe lady by myself by doing a rebirth on her body first time I died – shame on me. Better introduction or explaining of the rebirth system would be nice.

Still annoying things: Many pathfinding issues, getting stucked by myself or npcs getting stucked. Weird behaviour of npcs – it seems they did not know what to do and just standing in the middle of the base or jumping behind things where they not come out alone, running weird paths, mostly in wrong floor levels or around the house, running away when they are told to stay. The mount is running away when it should not follow. Sometimes they just start walking around in the base when they were left behind at the stable although there is enough food and water. Mount is running away so far that it can't follow again and I have to look were the mount was running to get it again. Tribe member doing their base tasks when they are deployed and should follow me.
Most of that issues seems to come with one of the last patches.

One lady seems to be afraid walking in the dark. She always grabs a new firefly lamp when she is back in base and use it when following me. So I dont need a lamp for myself. She also snitches new throw weapons whenever she could get some. No glue where she take it from. But I like that behaviour that is kind of funny. In addition she is always the first who jumps behind me from a rock and is the first who is on my side in all fights. I don't know whether that behaviours are by intent or by chance as I did not notice such thing on other npcs.
What I don't like and all npc are doing that: They rearrange their shortcut items. They always put in weaker weapons if they had some in their inventory or they just switch out weapons I put in before. And I see no pattern as they always switch other weapons no matter if they are skilled in that weapon or not.

Still many damage balancing issues. Enemies are either far to strong or far to easy within only a few meters. Elite and boss enemies are resetting while being in fight and in the mid of their fight range.

Still many instant death situations for followers at bosses or with traps.

If I don't had a stone table and had lost all my people each time, I would not have the fun I have and had with this game.
And still: the stone table is too small to take all important tribe members.
Some kind of ingame restore and backup system for the save game would be very appreciated.

Edit: I would quit the game too if I would lose my people or my base. I will miss your soulmask series but I will watch the moria series instead.

  4. I really enjoyed the playthrough and your, let's say, colorful commentary. But I definitely respect stepping away after the trouble you've had. Soulmask is a great game and I'm hoping that it's able to achieve its potential by full release. Looking forward to whatever content comes next. 🙂

edit: the pyramid is my favorite build of yours so far!

  5. oof. sorry to hear about your continued issues with the bases. I stopped watching for the most part during the boss vidoes, but mostly just because it was hard for me to keep up with what you were doing. I play these games pretty slowly so I really gel with YTers who have a similar pace. at any rate, thanks for your videos and I'm glad I got introduced to your channel through Soulmask!

  6. Wild. I've not had nearly as many issues on single player. Also there is a known issue with UE5 and Intel chips that causes crashes. If you underclock even a little it fixes it. The boss scaling with player number can be toggled off as well.

  7. Watched a number of your Soulmask videos – I enjoyed your content. I'm coming up on 300 hours of play on my own private server with 2 other friends. I've not had any of the disappearing issues you've described. But I definitely ran into a lot of annoying NPC pathing & logic bugs.

  8. seeing this compact summary makes definitely clear what crapload of shit you got to take whilst the viewer seeing you progress anyway, maybe not beeing able to relate what effort you needed to put in to get over it… therefor another big big shoutout to you, bringing up the motivation to move on and giving this game the chance to grip, because I really absolutely love the game, not facing any of the problems you had. If my really small base made of thatch would've vanished, i would've gone nuts 😀 So I really appreciate your endurance and your honesty and judging the game after 500 hours of experience, not 15 as it is often usual today… THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!! See you in your other series 🙂

  9. So sorry you got hit with so many problems, bugs, glitches etc etc.
I don’t blame you at all for throwing up your hands and saying enough is enough.

I absolutely loved your soul mask series. It was entertaining as hell, informative and just a real pleasure to watch.
Love how interactive you’ve been in the comments and willing to take suggestions etc.
I’m right at end game and thankfully only experienced a small bit of the glitches you’ve had to deal with. ( my remote miners keep falling into the void somewhere. )

Hope you return if and or when the game is more stable and reliably playable.

    Cheers all the best.

  10. I didn't encounter any bugs yet. I have solo on my game computer and just rented a dedicated server at gportal and its good. But on the official OCE server it is just sooooo laggy. Reason, I purchased the gportal.

  11. 500 hours is as far as I made it as well. What killed me is how samey every ruins became, just hitting triangles with hammers over and over again from Jungle to Volcano. Resource gathering also just became loops of hitting different colored rocks in the same 3 POI types. Grinding Durability mods. Knocking out entire civilizations of tribesmen being annoyed at 119 crafters or wrong perks (the profession/trait system needs a massive rework).

When I finished the game and unlocked all the cool end game stuff my only thought was "wow, i wish I had all these masks 250 hours ago."

With that said, I do want to come back to SM in a year or two once it's had some time to cook, for an Early Access title, it was honestly very good.

  12. Too bad. This game is what drew my attention to your channel. I really liked your creative architectural style. Unfortunately, other games like Return to Moria are of no interest to me. I wish you find a game that will not let you down and disappoint you. Good luck.👋

  13. I put in a good 30 hours in the first week I played and then one day I log in and my base is at 5% health. For some reason my followers would never stoke the fire again no matter what I did. Reassigning them did nothing. I logged out after putting in 24hrs hours of wood and logged back in and everyone was dead and 80% of my base was broken. I haven't played since.

  14. I believe the scaling of bosses is so that multiple players can't just make it way too easy. So you can't log on with 6 of your buddies and go wreck everything in sight. Anyway, I totally get it, we play games to relax and decompress. If I were having the same issues, I'd likely put it aside too. At least you sound like you have a good grip on the fact that the Devs putting so much attention on community based input, it will get better. I look forward to when you start your next playthrough. Oh, and as a nonsequiter thought, in the ape vid your tribesman was standing on his spear a number of times… I figured out it's a mastery perk.

  15. I had a long response to your video and my browser crashed before I could post it. Then I made a shorter version of it and my internet went out at the exact moment I clicked the "comment" button, no joke. 3rd time is a charm.

I love this game and I agree with what you've said. Pathing in this game is awful. Like seriously, wtaf awful. It's so common for things to randomly disappear that it's the level of calling it an added feature. We had our own server and had built atop a waterfall. We had 3 bonfires stretching from the top of the waterfall and along the river that feeds the waterfall. One day we logged in to discover that bonfire 1 and 2 were gone. Nothing in the log besides decay and destruction. At the same time, we had a problem getting Capy and turkey pens up and running: When we logged out, all but one of our animals disappeared. This happened over and over.

It took me quite a bit of searching to find the GM command for manual saves (because someone will ask, the command is gm BaoCun). Then it stopped happening. But here's the thing: Was it because of the manual saves? Something random? Something that was patched? I don't know. What I do know is that having to do manual saves sucks and should not be a thing you need to do constantly.

The game is amazing because it's gorgeous and complex AND because the dev team listens and makes changes accordingly. But there we hit a snag: The fanboys. These self-appointed defenders of all things Soulmask act as gatekeepers. They have the self control and self-awareness of a 6 year with ADHD and a serious crack habit – and the reading comprehension skills to match.

They comment on so many suggestion/feedback posts not to help but to argue over the validity of the feedback. This can discourage some players from providing public feedback – ironically a vital part of what makes the game so amazing. PUBLIC feedback is important because the players then begin to brainstorm and THAT helps to steer what is important to the players while the devs can focus on overall content and bug fixes.

I say "so many" because I am not one of those people. IDGAF.

The devs are amazing. I have never, ever been so impressed with game devs.

Thank you for the amazing builds. I still don't have a video of mine because, ironically, I logged in last night to discover that the bonfire in my base had become untethered to it's caretaker. The fire went out. So much to do.

Still going to do it. I promise.

  16. Idk this is just the problem if you expect to play early access games and expect they are complete. Early access means you are a tester of the game in development to share feedback and help the way the game grows so when it is complete it's development is alot more connected to what the players want and games in this genre can take easily 5+ years before they come out of early access. IF you want a complete game wait till it comes out of early access if you want to helpa game develope get it in early access but it will not be complete and there will be plenty of bugs

  17. at 500 hours… i think you at least got your monies worth! i really hope they fix the followers ai… standing on a trap or in poison and just dying is just bull pucky. id love to have some from of doing quests in the game too… it can be just a bit overwhelming on trying to decide on what to do next in the game other than the need to just explore all the greyed out areas

  18. Hey, I watched literally all your videos, learned a lot and had a great time doing it.

I'm so sorry for all the mishaps that happened to you, you really stayed in there throughout.

I have to say I'm at 500h+ too and never restarted. I was worried about the official server that it will be empty, reset or just deleted cause no one logged in there anymore. However, I NEVER had ANY issues with glitches or lags or things disappearing or whatever…

Of course, levelling is much slower, you can only have 1 character deployed and a max of 18 tribe members. SO, everything is MUCH slower.

To potential new players: If you are not in a hurry to make content (I understand Sovereign – or any content creator – could not do this on official servers in that period of time), just try an official server; my experience so far is great.

I hope to see you back at Soulmask at some point Sovereign!
Meanwhile I might also try out Moria… but i also LOVE building bases and Soulmask is really great at it!

Thank you for all the content!
