Rob i don't know if you know but the inhibitor rings were used on Sonic 2006 game. No one in the comment section is talking about it.

So did they base shadow off of Sonic? I guess I am confused if they used Black dooms DNA to create him and the bio-lizard looks nothing like Sonic, why does Shadow? (look like Sonic)

I hope they bring back Terios who an ancient Evil Hedgehog that was sealed away by the Echidna clan in a secret temple in the past. He could also utilize chaos energy. He was the original Hedgehog whose DNA was spliced with Black Doom to create Shadow. This would be an excellent story for SA3 to see him revived as the new villain that tries to convince Shadow to join him on his vengeance
They could have Keanu Reeves voice "Terios" and Jason Griffith voice "Shadow"

Shadow wasn't the one that went mad at Maria's death, Gerald Robotnik went mad and programmed/brainwashed Shadow to essentially "become evil", in SA2, they repeatedly cut to shadow's last memory of Maria, and right before she tells him her last wish, his programming fills in the blank with REVENGE, when she actually wanted him to forgive everyone on earth and strive to make it better.
Great video, personally I don’t think he’s the most powerful within the sonic mythos , considering the the 20 so years of Archie Sonic lore and Gerald Robotnik is Ivo Robotnik (Eggman/ Julian Kintobor) grandfather
The crazy thing is it’s actually stated shadow is just as fast as sonic with his hover shoes but without he is much much slower
There really aren’t that much numerical multipliers for the super forms they just become invulnerable and pure positive energy and essentially just unbeatable
The question still remains; if he was created in another world, how and why does Shadow look like Sonic?

the inhibitor rings apear in sonic 06 inwich he takes them off he has also taken his inhibitor rings off in his super form

8:17 Calling it from now, they’re going to face shadow in the movie, they’re going to fail & then they are going to visit Robotnik who creates the limiter rings to help them defeat shadow, and that’s how they will be introduced to the movie series
They may even add some lore to shadows full power & state that he can’t use it for too long at once or he’ll go nuclear, and the humans who raided the space compound & killed Maria will use that to justify their actions aswell
Then ofc at some point in the future Shadow (when redeemed) as one of the heroes will (in a gesture of self sacrifice) remove the rings to gain a power boost & unleash all his power (likely in addition to the chaos emeralds) to defeat whatever enemy threatens their existence 🫴🏾
