First like and comment XD
I’m 2nd
An issue I have with the Tyranids being an Old One bio weapon is that the Tyranids could become self sustaining. If the Tyranids absorb enough Ork biomass they could become self-sustaining and thus won’t die off after eating all the none Tyranid biomass .
The Old Ones being a cold race makes a lot sense. Especially when looking at how they dealt with the Necrons. (Its easy to assume they hated something they did not create themselves. Hoping the race would just die out over time.)
I honestly never thought about them being apathetic scientists before now. But it tracks and could also lean into multiple back stories for the Nids. (GW take note. Just don't give it to us in just one story. We need that stuff drug out to a multiple book story.)
I don't care for your theory, since the animalistic side of the Nids has been hammered down so hard. This makes them far too Orc-like, and therefore too similar in the "yeah we're this force of nature, but we've not a one dimensional killing machine" department. It might also overlap a bit much with the other ancient pre-humanity powers. Having the Nids be an outright force of nature feels like it kills their niche of "Om nom nom".
Fun video by the way, you certainly got my sub.
Sry bro, ctan shards are not canon, I have first necron codex. Nu-crons are just tomb kings in space, old-crons are scary xenos.
I don’t get your point about the material not found in this galaxy? Was that not just there to show how it’s likely they’ve ravaged another galaxy before hand? That the old encounters where just the furthest off shoots from the huge mass of Tyranids that’s heading towards us
I hope they don't have any connection to the Old Ones. The Tyranids are much more terrifying as an outside force without any connection at all to the Milky Way. You don't know if they naturally evolved or were some lab experiment gone horribly wrong in a galaxy that's long since been consumed.
Halo explained the origins of the Flood and connected them to our galaxy all along and that just killed the mystery and unknown terror.
LOL HAHAHAHA That would be very romantic in a setting like the WH4k. But lets be real. In WH4K your not allowed to have nice things. And an all powerful race above all other's without some form of fallacy or a way to stop them would not be WH4K. The Old Ones would not fit in the narrative of being the only super advanced species making just about every form of life taking it and starting over. Many species in the Milky Way Galaxy have dies and the Old Ones are no exception.
If anything the Nids are probably from another galaxy and maybe remotely possibly made and created by another race. But lets be Real. This is WH4K…. The other galaxy that spawned the NIDS are most likely a form of their own worshipping gone wrong or the Nids were made similar to how the the demons are made in the Warp like in the milky galaxy.
And the Warp entity that made the nids was running out of juice so now it is looking for other galaxies to fill it's ever bottomless pit of hunger and needs to consume or it will die like the other chaos warp gods in the milky galaxy in WH4K.
No, nids olds in billions years. Its theory no scene
My theory is that the Tyranid might be the traces of a C'tan (that might have went insane and similar to the Outsider went in a self impose excile) I mean there was a C'tan literally called the endless swarm.
Or my other theory is that during the War in Heaven the Old Ones tried combining the C'tan energy with their superior intellect, to create a weapon that unbenotes to them be far superior than they previously predicted and tried to exciled it away in the Darkest corner of the Galaxy. Only to escape once the Gods of the Material Universe were dead.
The Necrontyr were being imperialist dicks. They didn't deserve to be uplifted or given longevity and I don't buy that their condition "made them that way". That being said I think it's far more likely that the Old Ones "foresaw" or calculated some future calamity if they were to help them and so chose not to for self-preservation or the greater good of the galaxy. In doing so they united their enemies against them and sealed their own fate. It would be in-keeping with wider 40k themes of bringing about your own destruction through attempts to avert it. If they ever flesh out the Old Ones/War in Heaven lore I bet that's the direction they'll go.
Perhaps the Old Ones created the Tyranids to combat those who destroyed them: The Necrons
A fun idea I've liked is that the Tyranids are one group of Old One's trying to ruin another's work by contaminating their galactic workspace, completely ignorant that their peers over there are long dead. Tiamat's system would then be a 'marker seed' setup to draw the rest of the Tyranids to the target area deniably. In an entire galaxy, one backwater can be overlooked, especially when your busy. Think of it as two research teams studying bacteria, and one contaminates the petri dish of the other to sabotage their work. They just don't know that the lab they just spiked already had a disaster that wiped out the entire research team, because if they looked in it'd be suspicious.
I think it makes more sense that once deamons started appearing after the war in heaven some surviving old ones left the galaxy, them created the Tyranids are a means to reset the warp. No life = no emotions. No emotions = no deamons.
What if the Old Ones didn't fix the Necrotyr because they were cursed by the C'tan, and that was the real cause of their plight.
The tyranids are the result of a single old one going rogue, it has gotten lost on the obsession and thought the milky way was already dead, it didn't know its species was trying to fix what it had done.
The idea of the old ones being apathetic scientists who are obsessed with building a utopia is fascinating and pretty grimdark tbh. Really enjoyed this video, subbed for more.
I honestly really like the idea that The Tyranids are some Bio-Weapon made by the Old Ones to cleanse the galaxy to prepare for their return
I hope not, this explanation is boring. I hope we never know the true origins of the Tyranids. Their unknowable nature is what makes them interesting to me. Explaining their history will just make them another faction like all the others. Think of the Flood from Halo, the Borg from Star Trek, the Replicators from Star Gate. All of them got boring and mundane. Flood is Old One dust. Borg has the Queen, Replicators have the nanite leaders. All of it makes them less alien, less unknown, less mysterious and less fun.
The pharos beacon seens to have a warp component, its described like a second astronomocon. Warp allows faster than light messages and travel. Also message in the warp can arrive earlier than they are sent due to time distortion
