The panache of Zelenskyy is absurd but priceless. On the verge of collapse, as resources and manpower are depleted, Zelenskyy made an all or none decision. He may have saved Ukraine, only time will tell. However, we can be sure he has weakened Putin. Is this enough to force a negotiated peace. We can hope so. The war has drained both countries and left Ukraine destroyed.

If ‘retreating’ is embarrassing, Ukraine must be squirming with it as they have been retreating most of this year and continue to do so. A strategic relocation of troops is not at all embarrassing as the advances in the south continue. Well done Ukraine in Kursk for capturing countryside and several small villages. That took months and months of planning, massive investment from key allies, together with mustering considerable numbers of non-Ukrainian fighting personnel. Presently the Ukrainian force is being contained by a few Russian cadet draftees. For a country with limited manpower, this small frenzy of activity in a largely undefended area may count as a victory for Ukraine, but the day-in-day-out erosion of Ukrainian personnel will actually be hastened by the opening up of this new front. Longer term it seems to be playing into Russian hands.
Good for Ukraine, with that said time and time again we’ve seen wars where it looks like the country that starts off with success will be the ones to win it. One battle and momentum changes, until Russia ends this thing they still have a chance to emerge victorious. Don’t think it will happen but most wars go this way

Putin complains and says the west is responsible for Ukraine's incursion into the Russian terratory of Kirsk. Well, who does he blame for his invasion of Ukraine to start this fiasco? And what will he do if Ukraine refuses to leave captured terratory and annexes it like he did with Crimea, and the eastern coastline of the black sea following the February 2022 invasion? I believe as the injured party, Ukraine has every right to demand their terratory back ans also keep conqured Russian terratory as compensation for the tremendous damage to Ukraine caused by Russian bombing and missile attacks.
