  1. The main reason why generals rarely order both pursuit and no prisoners, is that this actually strengthens the morale of the enemy; they're then left with no choice other than fighting to the bitter end. Rather than place the enemy in this situations, generals have been known to place their own troops in it. By placing their forces with their backs to a beach, swift river, and/or barrier troops, as well as having severe punishments for fleeing troops. This has been the case since the beginning of recorded history. In other words, Tiberius is an uneducated fool, without the faintest clue about tactics, when he relentlessly pursues and gives no quarter, and then is "surprised" that they fight ferociously to the end.

  2. This was a horrible story. It had no involvement of the human fleet, no input to the decisions being made in the battle. The humans were not fighting for their safety or longevity, but simply to do the bidding of an inept alien admiral. They functioned as mercenaries, not warriors.
This violates all the history that has been previously established about human kind in war. It’s being told as to put all the blame on the humans for the utter destruction of multiple species who were completely defenseless.

Im shocked at how bad this story is.
