  1. Two Boeing planes fell out of the sky, arguably largely because the pilots were poorly trained on recovery procedures from runaway trim. We have become pretty unwilling to allow a company's airplanes to have any issues at all. I do not mean to defend Boeing's mistakes with the Max, but your typically careless language paints a worse picture than is warranted.

  2. I liked Elon's reply about the opportunity to talk with Harris. It gives me hope.
I became an even bigger fan of Mark Cuban today. I think he hit what at least should be a sore spot.

  3. Tesla Semi in Europe makes a tonnes of sense. Focus on environment and green transportation are more in focus in Europe than US. Many companies will prioritize this to reduce the carbon footprint.

  4. Truth? Is Elon's political endorsement of the Donald (arguably the world's most
prolific liar) part of his truth? I will drive his wonderful cars and marvel at his factories, and I know he is one of the most misquoted individuals, but I hate his apparent political preference. I am disillusioned, and weary of the fan boy culture.

  5. After all, Elon said he won't be blackmailed and doesn't need advertisers, FY told them. So what does he want to sue them for now that he sent them away?

There is no advertiser collusion, Elon is just making a fool of himself.

  6. Like others have said I think you wrong about what Ubers CEO is saying.
First Point about how people view autonomous cars. Like the news about burning cars. The data is clear that ICE cars are far more likely to catch fire, but nobody really pays much attention to that. One Tesla catches fire and it is huge news. We all know that there are a million BAD drivers out that cause a ton of accidents, it is just part of driving that we hate but accept as part of the reality. But one small mistake from something new and scary. BAM! front page news everywhere. Lots of people fear and hate change. These people will blow up any small thing into a HUGE event.
Second point about turning your car over to a stranger. While I'm confident that if the robotaxi tech gets to the point of level 5 autonomy there will be a ton of taxi businesses that will jump on that model immediately. The average car owner, on the other hand, I'm not so sure. There is a big difference between giving somebody a ride while you are there to watch them and just turning your car over that teen to do god knows what in. The market is there but it is somewhat limited. I think a better comparison is Turo. The rent your car app does a limited amount of business, but not huge. In my town of about 25,000 people there is usually about 10 cars available.
Third point about peak vs. off peak usage. I feel like that will be a very local effect. I suspect there will be some price adjusting for peak vs off peak use. Uber, taxis, and rentals all do that.

  7. Most people I know think X is a right wing/nazi hell hole spewing Trump's lies, and he lies a LOT.
I don't know. I never did Twitter, and I have no desire to do X. Sad to see this channel go political.

  8. I think the Camera placement on the test car is like this for them to be easy to sawp out so they can test different hardware. Or possibly modify the hard they allready use and put it back in the car.

  9. Teslas have good safety assistance features but don't feel more comfortable than any car of equal cost .alot of road noises. Shocks are not forgiving.unles u get most expensive models.,but improvements are definitely starting to show in most models software
Im still hopeful fsd will be complete by 2030😅

  10. Regarding the test car at the beginning, I think the big difference is camera/ visual field geometry. Remember how scary it was when Zach was pulling out onto that one street in Boston a while ago, and it looked like without intervention, he would have crashed into an oncoming car. This placement has front and side facing cameras higher up and more laterally facing, while the front fender cameras have a more swept back angle to look for rear approaching objects. I think this camera placement would have allowed the cameras to see that oncoming car, just like we would look out of the side window for oncoming traffic at that kind of intersection. I believe this would give a better 360 field of view, especially since the 3 is lower riding, so higher camera placement would be able to see farther over more objects.

  11. European roads are quite different from American roads. The primary difference being changes in altitude, with plenty of roads climbing mountain ranges. The other difference is more narrow laneways and tight turns. Due to this European trucks tend to be ahorter and have tighter turning radii. And European trucks tend to have more horsepower than American trucks to handle Alpine routes. This has lead to design differences such as shorter Cab over designs, while American trucks can have long noses and plenty of space between the back of the Cab and the trailer. Tesla may have to provide a shorter more powerful design for Europe.

  12. My friend and his wife both have Teslas. I've driven both and really enjoyed it. Having said that, I'm getting a little turned off with Tesla because of Elon and his antics. He has some noble goals. He also will fire enmass. He gets political, too. That's sometimes not a good thing for a CEO to publicly do. Now he's suing to bring back advertisers to X. That's a little over the top in my book. I'm losing faith in Tesla. I still have some in SpaceX for some reason but I try not to connect the obvious dots that the same tyrannical leader is running SpaceX that's also running Tesla and X.

  13. I think that the side cameras are a bit more appart, because the robitaxi will have only 2 longer doors and a more rear positioned b pillar. The front camera might be almost correctly placed, but the rear camera might be to far out, which they probably solved with a temporary software zoom, to simulate a shorter vehicle.

  14. re: the 49:40 clip
first of all, "To be "woke" politically in the Black community means that someone is informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality, Merriam-Webster Dictionary states."

second of all the full interview is on youtube, I'd link it here but daddy youtube wont let me so here is the title:
"Full interview: U.S. Senator Kamala Harris and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs | Code 2017"
and in that video, that clip is around 40:55 if you want the context

  16. uh ya..uber has people drive people in their cars. with THEIR supervision. He has a legit point. How many of us are going to allow/tolerate slobs in our cars. they break stuff, they eat, they put gum in places. it flat out remains to be seen how tolerant we will be

  17. There's a Teslarati article from mid-May titled "Apparent Tesla Model 3 test vehicle spotted with no side mirrors and unique camera setup" that has what looks like that same black Model 3 with weird cameras. I thought you covered it at the time, and I'm surprised you didn't draw this connection.
