Aristotle, Multiculturalism, & The UK Riots

Reformed Christians are skeptical of the writings of pagan philosophers such as Aristotle, Plato, and Plutarch. After all, these men did not possess the gift of regeneration, the Holy Scriptures, or the Holy Spirit. But as we grapple with the reality of forced multiculturalism, unchecked immigration, and burning cities in the UK it is time to consider the possibility that the great Western thinkers that our Reformed fathers extensively relied on, quoted, and used left us great wisdom and insights for our struggle today. Tune in now as we discuss the Reformed tradition, Aristotle, and his writings on the possibility of functional multiculturalism.

  1. I think the full context of Gabe's comment on tax credits is he sees them as a cheap substitute for not actually lowering the tax burden, so it's a vote-getting pandering to a specific group instead of being equal across citizens, as taxes should be. That's where the socialism comes in. But in your defense, he phrased that poorly on X.

  2. 34:01 Joel is too optimistic about having a multi ethnic Christian nation. Black evangelicals vote overwhelmingly for the Democrats. According to Lifeway research website, 69% of black evangelicals voted for Joe Biden, whereas 73% of white evangelicals voted for Donald Trump. Only 19% of black evangelicals voted for Donald Trump, and 18% of white evangelicals voted for Joe Biden. In other words, they were nearly exact opposite.

  3. My sincere question would be; What can we learn from secular philosophers that we can't learn from Scripture? Of course, unbelievers know things, but is it anything novel to God's Word, no!

  4. Question that was posed to Joel: Do you understand that even Wolfe has stated his natural law position is incompatible with Theonomy? Why specifically do you think you can ride the fence between the two?

Your mischaracterization of Theonomy was something to behold. "Libertarian-Boomerism?" You have no clue what you are talking about, but when all else fails, labeling and name-calling is the default position. But more importantly, you never answered the question posed to you. You simply blew it off by saying, "I don't think it (i.e. answering the question) is the greatest need of the cultural, political, and even theological moment." How is whether God's law or man's law is to be the foundation for cultural and political reformation not "of the moment" when it is essential to how they are to be reconstructed or reformed? God's law is antithetical to any form of natural law theory, which is both arbitrary and subjective. But I have little doubt that so-called "general equity theonomists" like you and Wilson and the entire "Moscow Crowd" will continue to refuse to answer this question. And the reason for not doing so is evident. You can't because unlike Wolfe on this point, you won't go on record stating that natural law and Theonomy are incompatible, because they are.

  5. Furthermore, your characterization of theonomic immigration policy as being "naive" is amazing. Besides your hypothetical being really naive, let's say that what you portrayed as being theonomic immigration policy is accurate? Do you rally have the audacity to call God's standard "naive" and Wolfe's natural law theory being the "Christian way" to go? I don't really think you have a grasp of what Theonomy actually teaches.

I'm being turned off by Jame Whites push back to Eric Con , and Yet Eric's silence on explanation leaves me in a fog as to what's going on .

Thankful for the work you guys are doing .

And fostering that additude of brotherly charity despite disagreement needs to continue on if we wonna build something lasting as God's ppl.

  7. You know who has wisdom??? The eastern Orthodox. My brother is one and he has been preaching this episode for decades!
My brother has always encouraged me to read the classics and says reformed people lack humility

  8. Perhaps a general equity theonomist and postmillenialist can adopt "wisdom" to manage things not explicitly taught in scripture like immigration.
Solomon offered to chop an infant in two to identify the rightful mother. Not sure that would be expressed as a "general equity" principle for us to use apart from wisdom.
You can't give your neighbor your cloak if you don't have one.
