The removal of Erotica itself is weird with how Capcom is with what’s allowed in what games but I believe it may be a carry over from DR4 since it didn’t exist there either.

Short answer: no.
I have never in my life played a game and gone 'I don't think this was sexy enough'. However, there are games I've thought were too sexy. Soul Caliber, Stellar Blade, and No More Heroes 2 are all great games that leave a weird taste in my mouth. I think you can 100% be too sexy. I can't say I blame them for erring on the side of caution and cutting back a bit.
Ive grown a hatred for basically all capcom fans. First re4 remake was garbage because ada wore more (and more sexy imo) clothing and you couldnt see up Ashley's skirt easily, now this is bad because…. You dont get rewarded for taking panty shots? You can still take them, you just dont get rewarded for it.
Also i love seeing people go "but the original creator wanted sexual themes!", but then in the same breath go "why frank ugly? Thats woke and bad" like….. He was always supposed to be ugly. They only care what the original creator wanted as long as it's not "woke". Im glad to know that we have sensible people like you man…. I just cant take it antmore with capcom fans. Or any "anti woke" fans. Never forget when people called the mario movie woke because princess peach had HER BIKER OUTFIT SHES HAD SINCE MARIO KART WII!

Erotica feels like they wanted another category and they went with the creepy/inappropriate one in terms of the plot. War photojournalist comes to get a dangerous scoop and…takes pervy photos of allies? It's a goofy game but erotica was out of place imo.
Things like the Larry change make sense especially since Capcom plans to sell this in global (so i.e Asian and SEA) territories where such "depictions" by a JAPANESE developer can come across more insensitive in said regions than originally intended.
However, the removal of Erotica and other certain edits is just such an unnecessary change and it always rubs me the wrong way when stuff is removed, no matter how small. The argument always is "it's inconsequential so it doesn't matter". If it's truly that inconsequential to the game then why remove it in the first place instead of keeping it in?
I think the quality of life changes balance it out, and there's always the original to go back to, so I will still play this version and form my own thoughts, but I just wanted to say it perplexes me that these things are done.
this is stated around a lil bit but the backlash drdr is getting is the same backlash re4r got for changing adas dress and giving ashley a jacket, i dont think capcom removes mommy material or anything, they just make a different kind, as for erotica being gone i reeeeeally dont think it matters cuz its not that important or that common even.
Removing erotica isn't a deal breaker but I completely get it. It's easy to just call people creeps when they call this stuff out but for the vast majority of players, it's about the principle of censorship and not what's actually being censored.
The idea that creative vision is being constantly crashed these days because of a small number loud, senstive individuals and activist journalists is just sad, especially when the product is made for adults.

There is nothing wrong with having Juvenile humor in gaming. It was always a wink at the audience. In the original game you could mostly always ignore it. Changing it or removing just makes people look at you and see how shame of yourself you were.
I don’t have any problem with Larry being redesigned to be a little bit more sensitive to a modern audience.
But why did they have to make him less scary? Larry was so scary looking in the original. Now he looks like he’s from Fairly Odd Parents or something. Why?

Hey Ecdycis – i am a longtime fan of deadrising 1, capcom in general; in fact the first game i bought that was next gen in the 360 era was DR1 😆 I dont think people are aware that generally the American Capcom brand is actually the one in charge of censoring things. Case and point Street Fighter / Final Fight, where Poison is a "transgendered woman" in America but a "newhalf" in Japan (man who looks like a woman). This has actually been the story of censorship between countries. So the Japanese version likely still will have it, but in America 3rotica probably won't be present.

Yes any and all censorship is bad and a bridge too far, you tolerate even the most innocuous change and then the busybodies ask for more because now there's proverbial blood in the water

I just don't want writing/dialog to change. Other than that Idc about the little changes like removing the erotic genre when taking photos. Yes it's technically censorship, but this is excusable or understandable, but changing story/writing/dialogue is intellectual censorship, you are censoring thoughts and ideas and that's where I draw the line.
Them being squeamish about gore, and all the censorship, and the lack of Rotolo all leave too bad of a taste for me to want to buy this. Might utilize the ole pirate costume though.

There hasn’t been much showcase of the Photo Scoring system to see if the Erotica genre has been removed.
If it is removed, it’s weird to do that but not remove the female zombies’ “lower grab”. Unless that animation has been applied to male zombies as well
If you were offended by the erotica photography you're not valid and you should farm your trauma in therapy or take antipsychotic medication!

I'm OK with making games less weird about women, and less alienating and weird for women (and everyone else who cares) to play. I'll always consider that a win.
I understand it's on brand for Dead Rising as a series and Frank as a character to be a bit wacky and tasteless and satirical, but I'm fine if they back away from that in certain aspects. Leaning into that shit is what ruined the series in the first place and it's better to adapt and keep what was great and discard what was cringe.
It was such a niche photo category anyway and didn't really add much, if anything, to the game. I'm definitely not gonna miss it.
All of that aside, the game also just seems absolutely phenomenal! Just Capgod doing their thing~

i have liked and i have been subscribed so there's only one thing left to do… i'm excited for DRDR. yeah it's a bit of a bummer to remove content but after a certain point i stopped taking pictures anyway in OG Dead Rising so not a huge deal imo
im extremely disappointed that they removed and changed things. larry, the erotica tag, cliffs dialogue censored etc. they are all pretty much pointless changes, which sucks.
my main criticism is how dark the lighting is, the game just overall looks alot darker due to the lighting they are using this time around. the mall just doesn't pop like it used to honestly, it has more detail sure but most of it is obscured by too much shadowing or whatever.
most of the voices surprisingly sound good for the most part, the clown sounds exactly the same while the grocery store manager sounds a bit too off but also not terrible. bringing the closet from dr3 is a great idea, same with the blender in the safe house. i love that music like gone guru is back. having every line of dialogue voiced will be amazing. the fact survivors have added dialogue while escorting them is faantastic. etc.
i think that overall, the game has alot of improvements and imo as a "hardcore DR fan", the positive changes outweigh the negative changes so far.

Honestly I find the removal of the “Erotica” category to be overblown. The game doesn’t slap a big black bar on the screen for taking gooning material, it just doesn’t reward you for taking unsolicited pictures of peoples’ breasts and legs anymore, and it seems like those that seem upset about it are either doing so because they don’t like the game being touched in any way OR because they are idiots that think any and all change is some sort of political conspiracy
