As for your reference to Octavia, I first was thinking you were talking about Camillia from Wrath. Had to look up the two in order to clear it.

Hey Ret, I just checked the wiki for Jae's romance (spoilers)!
The celebration seems to be one of the ways you can start the romance with Jae, either by requesting a kiss or telling her she's beautiful. Since you didn't take either option, this may be the reason why nothing important seemed to have happened.
Retcon. Ditch Jae now.

The way that Valen is constantly bemused by Jae is hilarious. I know you aren't feeling it, but I think a romance between the two would be amazing.
I think, in character, inviting Valen to the celebration accomplishes two things for Jae. (1) She gets a bunch of status for having a Rogue Trader not only support her on paper, but also "hang out" publicly. (2) It's a chance to try and seduce Valen. I don't think she planned anything more nefarious than that (this time :D). However, the rest of her antics? She's definitely staking a public claim, IMO.
My character left the party early (I decided as a psyker she really didn't want to get drunk, but also the cheating would have irritated her), and it didn't seem to impact the friendship track TOO badly.
I feel like you're mistaking Iconoclast for Paragon or Lawful Good.
In latter case Dogmatic is Lawful, Iconoclast is Chaotic. For example if you resolve Argenta's(and Idira's) storyline a certain way, she keeps being Dogmatic, but has one of the most good endings in terms of humane views.
I like Jae, but she's definitely overstepping the boundaries that would normally get her killed and acts less like a professional smuggler you expect her to be.
As for burned fingers, I suspect that she needed your fingerprints.
Jae and Danrok are very amusing in how awful they both are, but man… you'd have to be a literal fool for her not to run far away from that.
Jae really pushed it this episode, I wonder with how often they mention her teeth being white if she gets an augment to weaponize “blindingly white teeth”.
Jae is the kind of woman mothers warn their children about. Lady Cassia is clearly best girl. Surely a Rogue trader has other means of obtaining cats of the space variety?

I'm kinda glad Jae's quest bugged out in my playthrough. At one point you had to go to footfall to go to this party and I ended the act not knowing that would expire. I agree that putting up with Jae is a bit much for a space cat.
