Man jumps over deadly electric rails on Metro train tracks



This video from L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station shows a person jumping down onto the tracks and jumping over those dangerous electrified rails.

    Lets say human impedance is around 1000Ω
    At 750V the current flow would be 0,75A and that means there will be more than 500W dissipated via your body! . Scary

  4. токоведущий рельс имеет защиту от дурака, сама токосъемная часть находится снизу рельса, а не сверху, и если наступить сверху – ничего не будет, не будет поражения электрическим током. The current-carrying rail has foolproof protection, the current-carrying part itself is located at the bottom of the rail, not at the top, and if you step on it from above, nothing will happen, there will be no electric shock.

  5. Minor correction: volts don't kill you, amps do. But yes, something with 750 volts most likely has enough amps too to kill you many times over. It only takes 0.1 amps to kill you, and many sources say/imply currents between 0.1 and 0.2 are always fatal, however currents above 0.2 amps can be survived with prompt and proper medical attention.

  6. Ite electrified part is covered from top and somewhat from the sides, plus one would have to hold onto another rail to conduct electricity from it. Not to state that its a good idea to run across railroad tracks like that, but please lets not overdramatize
