I never understood why Stephen King didn't like Kubrick's version, we all love it at least most of us did. How ever the Shining tv version suck so bad that many didn't like it. It has a low rating of 6.0 while Kubrick's version has 10.0. So therefore King wasted his time making this one. However I think you got ripped off for that small tiny room, ain't no way that room is worth over 300.00 dollars, we got motels down the road for 45 dollars a night bigger than that room. lol! Might want to go get your money back! lol! Just messing with you. Enjoying your videos! Please keep them coming! 🙂
I read The Shining before I saw the Kubrick version. It was a "Roque" mallet that Jack attacked Wendy with. Roque is a variation of Croquet. Great vid! I wish I could stay at the Stanley and the Timberline. I am not sure I would stay in any of the haunted rooms at the Stanley. LOL!👻👻
I started to read Stephen King books in middle school. The shining was my favorite book. Then I saw the movie one of my fav. horror movies. Dumb and Dumber another of my fav. movies too. It looks amazing to be there. Great video.
Ok, I can’t stand it another instant! Anyone who has read the book knows there was no maze in the book – it was a very “playful” gathering of “Hedge Animals” that tend to go hunting when they’re not being watched! They were terrifying!! And Jack Nicholson (who should never have been given the part!!) clearly never read the book. If he had, he might’ve understood that the “message” was definitely NOT a comedy (“Here’s Johnny!!”). Absolutely pathetic performance!
And how on earth made the choice for “Olive Oil” to play Wendy?!?! Comparing the two, there IS no comparison! “Wendy” was blonde and beautiful—a far cry from Olive Oil. Kubrick had to be taking some pretty powerful pills to get THAT result!! Sickening, really!
On a whim a few years back me and a friend called and was able to book room 217 for the following weekend. Great stay! Been back to Estes Park many times since. Love it there.
i dont care for jimcarey and dont want to watch anything he plays in. I pretty much know the movie because ya hear about it so much from others. After all that any interest is gone.
I wish I could post pics on here and show you the letter my mom has from Steven King after she wrote to him how the movie was nothing like the book and he replied to her saying he knew what she was saying…it was dated 1980 and he said to look out for his new book, Firestarter..I took the letter to appear on Pawn Stars back in Dec …if you'd like a pic, my YouTube channel The Gatlinburg Hussey and I'll post it again
If you care, room 401 would not have had Lord Dunravens ghost because he left Estes Park before the Stanley hotel was built. I worked as an archaeologist on the Dunraven home in Estes Park, which is now on the National registrar
Nice stuff. Frank of FrankoTV has made several videos in the Stanley. Noises, doors opening and closing by themselves. As an Oregonian I’ve visited Timberline Lodge that stood in for the Overlook in the exterior shots, at least a dozen times. Spectacular because it’s literally on the side of Mount Hood, the tallest mountain in Oregon
Hi Adam, I enjoy your videos very much. During this video, you showed an old photograph of the Stanley Hotel on the wall while you were exploring the building. At the bottom it had written on it, "1820.Stanley Hotel Estes Park". I think that might have been the hotels address back in 1909, not the year of the photo. Photography was not invented till 1826, so impossible to have a photo from 1820, also the Stanley Hotel opened in 1909. I think the hotel should have an additional sign next to this photo explaining the history of the photo because it is a little misleading. I love and and enjoy our videos very much. Have you thought about going up to tour Alaska at some point, or what about Hawaii? Happy Travels, Rebecca &:)
When you take the good tour that takes you through the hotel our guide told us how Jim Carey stayed in 217 during filming. One night he ran downstairs in his pajamas freaked out. Refused to go back into the room. Asked the hotel to have his luggage shipped to another hotel in town. He never talked about what happened…also Stanley made his money on the Stanley steamer car which is what you saw. He then built the hotel. Yada yada.
The tv version was so unbelievably cringy… Who the hell greenlighted that kid playing Danny?? Everything about that film was just 😬😬 (Who cares though) great vid as always Woo
This is exactly what they should have done in Gary. Turn the Hell House into a tourist mecca. And build a museum, art gallery, have guided tours of historic places in town. Have annual Halloween events like in Salem. Smarts, marketing and tourism is what keeps old towns alive.
Stayed at the beautiful Stanley Hotel 2 years ago, its like stepping back into time. My daughter and I had many paranormal experiences there. So much hstory and dont forget the Rocky mountain National park entrance is in Estes Park also. A must see destination !
Great content… I always wondered about this location…. thanks to The Shinning!
I was 6 years old in 1974. I would love to visit the Stanley (Overlook) Hotel. The Shining is one of my favorite movies.
3 mins in and this is the greatest vlog ever vlogged by a vlogger

I stayed in the winter and were one of only a few guests that night. My daughter witnessed things. Kind of creepy there at night with few around.
Great tour!

Stayed at the Stanley. Little water pressure. Didn't see any ghosts. There are good concerts there.
You do excellent videos! I've not been able to travel! Really appreciate it! Thank you

i just got this movie yesterday it's one of my favorite Stephen King movies
To bad the shinning movie was shot on a sound stage with a hotel built up and wasn't filmed at the Stanley hotel
You got me all the way effed up if im going to pay over $300 for a hotel room without AC…idgaf if it is a historic motel or not.

They should let you look through the back of his head like the old $6 million dollar man toy.
Fun vlog…. love this hotel and hope to visit one day.
Hi Lloyd
Where can we watch the mini series ?
Was the hotel closed just for the filming of the shinning
I wrote this when your comment count was 666…ooooboo!
Shame they haven't made an exact replica of the maze from the movie. That would be so awesome! The current one is pissy and some dead trees 😒
The TV version with stephen weber us FAR supior, bad CGI and all. Kubrick was a HACK.
You people make me sick. Jack was never there and you know it.
Slipknot shot there video for spit it out back in 1999.
The tv version was so unbelievably cringy… Who the hell greenlighted that kid playing Danny?? Everything about that film was just 😬😬 (Who cares though) great vid as always Woo
Hell yes I live in Longmont. Not far from Estes Park.

No ac would be horrible.

I don't know if I'm happy or sad that they don't have the topiary animals.
