McCarthy Is Not Ready

Vikings JJ McCarthy Is Not Ready | The Real Forno Show 🎙️🏈 – Welcome back to another exciting episode of The Real Forno Show! Your host, Tyler Forness, is here to bring you all the latest updates and in-depth analysis on your favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. Broadcasting from Vikings 1st & SKOL, this episode dives deep into the second week of Vikings training camp and the intriguing storylines emerging from practice sessions.

One of the most captivating topics this week revolves around the quarterback position. J.J. McCarthy has become a focal point, receiving heaps of praise from fans who are clamoring for him to be the starter. But is McCarthy truly ready for such a critical role? Tyler Forness tackles this question head-on, providing a balanced view that considers both the impressive moments and the areas where McCarthy still needs to improve.

McCarthy has certainly had his share of highlights during training camp. For the first time, he got reps with the first team in red zone drills on Friday afternoon. He followed that up with another opportunity on Saturday, where he capitalized by delivering a stunning pass to Justin Jefferson, earning a massive response from the crowd. Despite these flashes of brilliance, Tyler points out that McCarthy’s game still has some holes, particularly in his ability to quickly go through his progressions. This is a skill that will develop over time, but as of now, it’s clear that McCarthy isn’t quite ready to start over the more experienced Sam Darnold.

Tyler Forness goes beyond just the quarterback situation, offering insights into other key developments from the Vikings’ training camp. Whether you’re interested in the performance of the rookies, the defensive strategies being implemented, or the overall team dynamics, this episode has got you covered.

  1. If you want to change his style, it’s going to take time. But I don’t see Darnold doing much better if he is also changing his style. Darnold will have his problems as QB1. JJ will get it down sooner than you think. And as far as I’m concerned JJ is the better QB even at this point in time.

  2. You Still Have Mullens who has had more time with the Offense And The Team! Pump The Brakes! We Don't Want to Wreck Our QB! You seen Chicago and the Jets! We don't Want to be them! Give him a Full Year To Develop! Get Behind Sam Danold And Mullins Until Then! SKOL

  3. It's easy to over hype rt now. Curious before camp people were saying OK we need a year on the sidelines as QB3 till he gets up to speed. Now tyler do u see him as being competent or very close to be the backup game one

  4. Hey, Tyler! A little FYI for you. Since you use it every time I see/hear you discuss the Vikings, you should know that the phrase you mean to say is not "adjunct failure," but "abject failure" — abject meaning miserable or hopeless.

  5. Personally I would like to see some Viking videos talking about something other than JJ McCarthy. I just moved on from a situation where all we were focused on was the quarterback now we are back to the same thing. Remember viking fans football is a team sport

  6. No need to rush McCarthy into the starting lineup. You don't want him to suffer the same fate as Tarkenton did his first year scrambling for his life and Tarkenton was ready to play. McCarthy would lineup behind a very questionable interior offensive line. Let him sit, watch and learn.

  7. He's the most negative on McCarthy I've heard. . Might be a little about how high on Drake May he was and wasnt pushing for McCarthy. May isnt looking so good from most accounts and McCarthy looking pretty solid. I think Forno tryna look like he wasnt as possibly wrong as he was. . js
