Wizards and Warriors animated fantasy documentary lore video series on GRR Martin’s world of Ice and Fire continues. Previously, we have covered the story of the rise and fall of the Targaryens (https://youtu.be/elBPgLSVGk0) and the story of the Game of Thrones before the Winds of Winter (https://youtu.be/7AkZoix8-BY). Our new series will deal with the earliest history of Essos and Valyria and in the first episode we will talk about the clash between the Dragon and the Harpy – the so-called Ghiscari Wars, as the Old Empire of Ghis and the rising new power of the Valyrian Freehold clash in brutal conflict. The expansion of Valyria continued against the Rhoynar and Andals, and eventually led to the defeat of the Rhoynar and coming of Nymeria and her ten thousand ships to Westeros. In this video, we will also describe the doom of Valyria, telling the story of its fall.

Idk. Either you sound like a medieval messenger announcer, or it's slightly too fast spoken, or the pacing is rushed – maybe it's just me idk – but dude this is quite unnerving to listen to

Honestly wish there was a secret Valyrian civilisation in the west that survived and still have dragons but just don’t give a damn about the rest of the world after the doom.
Kinda funny when you say that in the fourth ghiscari war, that all was not lost for ghis because Infighting in Sarnor. I mean it did nothing to change the war or affect Valyria in a meaningful way.

Still not entirely convinced the Valyrian origin is as simple as shepards discovered the dragons in the fourteen flames. Something deeper happened, involving the Dawn Empire of the east and something that has to explain the corruption of oiley blackstone as opposed to the Valyrian blackstone… and some funky dna melding stuff to explain the….weirdness that manifests here and there with Valyrian dragonlords.
How is all of this known ?? Is it in the books ?

The 1st Targaryen was a bastard son of a dragon lord in the freehold. He claimed a dragon, fought in wars, ammased some wealth, and his half-sister fell in love with him. They married their dragons multiplied and thus, Targaryens became dragon lords, although minor lords as compared to other old families of the freehold.
