Time flies when you are having fun. I feel like I had just started when I had already run out of time. Trying to figure out how to automate such a silly setup really does suck you in. Also I think we might be producing to much CO2, will have to keep an eye on that.

The new oxylite plant and the new tree can be pip-planted into pots. You know, just saying.
what happened to rescue attempt #2? just abandoned the entire series at #1?
Sean-san? GONE!?
These damn foxes keep getting stuck in tiles when spawning from eggs.
I was wondering why Francis has a zoo of Flox running around his research station
Petition for FJ to save the wood pile!
Aaaaaannnddddd we back.
Great vids keep it up
Looks like ice makes have been buffed. Now they can delete a lot more heat. And provide ice for your oxygen production. Might be worth looking into
Maybe put all the Cinnabar behind a locked door till you are ready to use it? Should prevent it from being used as default if you get it all in there.
Why not one to right, and leave te wood pile?
For the oxylite "expansion"/"evaporation" room you could use a gas pressure sensor.
moooooooore
I think if you raise the drop chute higher to where the cargo falls when it exits, the weight sensor will detect it after every weight change
Francis, you still have jugs of piss water in your food pit from Hans' accident
I've really missed you playing this game, time I went hunting for some of your previous ONI videos again <3
To be honest, I was hoping you would do an "exploit nature's bounty" style run, and this appears to be it ๐
Pips planting into entombed pot works with alveovera, eliminating the need for ice and growing at domestic rate. I never built any oxygen production or carbon scrubbing in 500 cycles and have a surplus of 300 tons of oxylite.
Also works with bonbon trees, for free nectar or wood; although bonbons in flower pots can't feed seals and can't remove entombment of the pot on their own.
40:26 domesticated alveo vera actually use less co2 per oxylite because it works loke dasha salt vines which take chlorine to make salt
Pointless Comment
I can't believe you're not making Soufflees, they only take raw egg and 2 sleet wheat grain, and give the same morale bonus as BBQ. I'm not even harvesting the wild sleet wheat, but somehow I have over 300 cycles worth of it in the freezer, I've completely stopped the spikeapple farming and cooking as I have tons of the stuff now (cycle 160ish 16 dupes). On a side note, the Bammoth need a serious re-balance, I can't keep half of them fed, even with a stable full of squash, and harvesting every wild squash on the map, it's gotten so bad that I'm seriously considering ranching the seals for more ethanol, to grow more squash. I do, however, have reed fiber for days. lol
On a side note, this dlc introduces an interesting mechanic, keeping your base cold enough to freeze the food, and grow crops, as even the basic toilets and wash basins begin spreading enough heat that snow tiles melt, sigh.
I'm gonna steal your automation loops though, as I generally only use automation in my ranches, to collect eggs and what-not.
I believe the term is "drunk" ๐
As I understand, the warm coats protect dupes from being cold but only up to a point. Get them really cold and it won't work, same with getting them wet / soggy feet – that also makes them cold.
Cinnabar Ore is fairly abundant (at least on the Frosty Spaced Out asteroid) and is only used for Mercury which overall isn't that much of a needed material. So don't feel bad for using the ore.
There is also a neat new decor item – a 1×1 wood carving. Might be a good thing to bedazzle the base with!
As for oxylite into oxygen room, you could just put the oxylite on a rotating rail segment that gets topped up whenever the oxylite disappears!
I cannot overstate how much better my week is now that FJ is playing ONI again.
FJ repeats what every mining CEO thinks " As long as I get Iron I don't care about the natural environment " ๐คฃ
34:00 can you just add timer that retriggers the pressure plate every so often?
Why not move the right side of the base? It would ben a shame to destroy the woodpile ๐ข love the new series. Im just getting started (2435 hours), but i can already see you tackle things way different than i did lol ๐
if the food is warm and in a vacuum then it'll not be deep frozen (no gas) so if using a vacuum then the food needs to be frozen first
Keep them coming! ๐
Hydrogen and oxygen into a gas tank, at which point does it become a liquid water tank?
32:12 Why doesn't ONI have a duplicant drying station?
33:44 Why not use an atmosphere sensor instead of a weight sensor?
I like to have a filter/buffer gate on element sensors like you have for the CO2. this prevents the automation from flickering on/off and ensures that the level you want is achieved to a sufficient level and it also saves clock cycles when you have a lot of similar sensor setups.
When dupes start trapping themselves with a build or dig, instead of cancelling the order, just click the dupe and then use the Move To command to send them somewhere safer. They'll stop what they're doing, move, then go back to doing it.
Hi Francis.
Instead of moving everything on the left over one, couldn't you just make the first tile in the left-hand rooms a grate or airflow tile? should work the same as a 4-wide column, at least until you get to transport tubes, an by then it'll be time for an entire base overhaul.
why so short ๐ its too short ๐
I love that youโre poking around with the new mechanics. But youโre still missing 1 new critter and 1 new plant. They produce ethanol and early-game super coolant.
For your evolution chamber, how about a conveyor receptacle? Floxes produce more kcals per cycle as Omelette (467kcal/cycle) than BBQ(333kcal/cycle) or even Pemmican(433kcal/cycle). If you simply let unused eggs in a conveyor receptacle, they will automatically crack after 10 cycles (which is quicker than the 20 cycles they need to hatch) and all you need to do at this point is cook the raw egg. Later on, you can even automate the cooking since raw egg automatically turns into omelette when heated to 70 celcius.
You might also want to upgrade your pikeapple farm into another flox ranch. Not only do floxes give more calories than the pikeapple they eat (778kcals/cycle of omelette per plant instead of 400). At this point, the additional 5kg of dirt they poop and their 360 kg of wood every 6 cycles are just a bonus. I think the lack of need to harvest the plants, the lower composting need and the smaller cooking labor need should more than makeup for the grooming labor.
You're eventually gonna need an evolution chamber for your bammoths though, but that's a different story.
Petition for FJ to save the wood pile! Move everything to the right!
Francis: "so long as we get our iron ore, it doesn't matter WHAT we do to the natural environment." Would love to see Francis UN-FRANCIS-ING a planet on Terra Nil.
The YT playlist for this run has the first 2 episodes switched. Fix plz? ๐ฅบ
I keep calling it cynibore too!!!
Idea to fix Oxylite room.
I really like the entire oxylite setup and the concept of running the base oxygen from those plants!
1. Run a long conveyer rail inside the oxylite room.
that should help oxylite of gassing keeping a good pressure.
2. Remove the shut off shute outside of the room.
as oxilyte only of gasses while pressure is under 1800 we should always have a rail full of oxylite
3. multiple weight sensors and dropoffs like the one you have now. with same setup.
so 1 weight controles 1 dropoff.
I believe that the weight will detect when the oxylite vaporizes completely and then the system should add new oxylite.
This should have the benefit of giving 4 different backup lumps of oxylite.
As always thanks for the great video!
10:40 this only applies if the food is in an atmosphere. If it's stored in vacuum, the refigerated/deep frozen depends on the food's temperature. (FJ did a showcase on this in a previous series, cooling down metal tiles to about -60ยฐC or so, run the food through and dropped off in a vacuum. I'm still using this in my rockets, so hasn't been changed with the Frosty Update)
"Normal atmosphere -4%. That's because its in pee" Good to know piss is classified as normal atmosphere.
17:50 why not just use a drop lock on the top left corner of the pump, dig out 1 tile of abyssalite, and go in there, then rebuild it after? You have ethanol which won't freeze. But as they say, theres more than 1 way to something a something.
Oxylite scones sound like they would taste good
I think you're missing the point of this game mode, it's to work around and leverage chill instead of destroying it ๐ RIP ice biome 2024
Love the series regardless, can't wait to see what ridiculous stuff you come up with later!
looking good
