There probably was a better way to go about this situation but it didn’t happen. This kid died because the officer used lethal force with the suspect holding the kid hostage as a shield. Hard telling what more time to react could’ve done in a situation like this. Condolences for the family’s, friends and people affected
Media is horrible they made this cop out to be some racist baby killer but left out the part that the kids own dad practically held him up to the gun
Granted, we haven’t seen the entire video, and I’m obviously not educated in this field, and yes, the highly intoxicated man was a horrible human being for using a baby as a shield, however, I would assume that the officer would’ve seen the child and also that the person had no weapon, etc. Pepper spray or literally anything else would’ve impacted the child but not taken his life. I have four children, my youngest being six, children being used in such a way disgusts me , and I can’t imagine how this family is feeling. Now imagine if this was a different situation where the child happens to dart out, is the officer just going to shoot?. From what I understand their training is supposed to let them quickly register if something is a threat or not. The man did not have a weapon, and he had a child in his arms. As gross and evil as it is that he was using Child as a shield so he would not be shot and most likely did not expect the officer to shoot them.

There is no justification for use of deadly force in that scenario. None.
The police officer is in the right because he didn’t know if that guy was gonna pull a gun or shoot him instead so it was either him or the officer and how could he have known that the suspect had a kid around the corner.
That is so sad. But you need to face the true cause of the little boy dying, his father did that to him, make sure that gets put on facebook and instagram as well. My prayers are with the babies mother and other family members. I can't imagine the pain.

AMAZING how we're seeing people blaming the man holding the child and not the police you shot the gun. Yes, the father, he's scum, but that does not change the fact that the police fired the weapon and hit the child. This was a hostage situation and the police shot the hostage without regard. The criminal didn't even have a gun, so there was not need to shoot period! I'm ex-military and if this as a training exercise the officer would get a failing grade. But since this is REAL LIFE you want to give the officer a break and blame the man without the gun! 🤔
