I was in one in Ellis kansas back in 2008, was only an F1 but still had damage to homes and the power station,
I remember the one that hit Joplin that was scary

I went through one back in 2000 in Sanford Florida the rain was going sideways and the rumble was just as so many describe i i lost a good friend who lived in a trailer that took a direct hit I was blessed that day because I didn't waste one second and got my toddler and I safely in our closet with a mattress covering u needless to say my son is still terribly frightened by severe weather (I am extremely cautious of it and have mad respect for Mother Nature)
May 3rd tornado. I was there. A teen under a bridge as one of the biggest and the fastest tornadoes bore down. Absolute nightmare fuel. I still dream about it. Genuinely a miracle I and most of us under the bridge didn't pass. One did. He was horrible to witness

I actually lived in a city named Wichita, Kansas and when I grew up there I actually saw 2. One hit the park I lived by but was probably 2/3 blocks away and thankfully it went in the opposite direction. Of course when you grow up in the Midwest, the sirens go off but we’re likely to go out onto our porch or something then go to the basement. Obviously we eventually go, but it used to be way more common to have potential tornados back when vs today. I guess they get very few anymore. However, I was back home a year or two ago and I actually got to watch one from my grocery store parking lot when it hit a town called Andover. It’s a pretty crazy thing to see! As a side note though, that lava tornado thing sounds like an “only in the movies” thing and sounds too scary for me, I’m good here on the mainland lol. ✌️💛
I have seen old videos on YouTube of the May 3rd, 1999 Moore tornado. That is the most infamous tornado in Oklahoma history. In some videos of that tornado, I saw people were hiding in underpasses under highway bridges. NEVER, EVER do that!! That is one of the most dangerous things you can do during a tornado!!
When I was a kid A tornado went by our house and ripped off our garage and side door. Twenty years later during a hurricane we had bugged out to my parents house and came home the next day to find my carport inverted on my roof, my shed gone, part of my roof ripped off and my side door in the front lawn. Twenty minutes after we left a tornado came across the edge of my property through my neighbors yards and into a retention pond. The tornado reshaped our properties and every time it rained till I moved out fifteen years later we had a river through all three yards that no grass would grow in. I am very thankful none of of us were hurt.

I live half an hour away from Joplin, MO. In Jan 2020 I drove through Springfield, MO at night while tornadoes were in the city. I don't know how close I actually got to one, but my car was violently hit with winds from it. I made it through with no damage and kept driving.
I have never experienced it but I am absolutely terrified of tornadoes!
The 2019 Memorial Day tornados that happened in Dayton Ohio never gets talked about. We had 15 hit in one night
I was a baby in Moore during the 1999 tornado and I went through it again actually in Moore during 2013. I lived there for a few years until about 3 years old and was moved with family. I was in Moore visiting other relatives for a while when the 2013 tornado ripped Moore apart again. It was scary to witness and it stays with you…😳
