Exercising doesn’t help you lose weight. In fact, it barely changes your daily calorie burn.
Welcome to the workout paradox!
Let’s dive into the science of how your body actually handles calories and sabotages your best efforts to burn them.

After reading your feedback and looking into it, we have to say you are right: This video was too simplified and didn't explain things clearly enough. Scripts start out more detailed and then get shortened, and this time we obviously overdid it. This is exactly the kind of stuff we try to avoid, but we went too far and this hurt the message and the science we wanted to explain. What now? We are editing the script, adding more information, including more expert feedback, and will update the video as soon as possible. After this is set and done, we’ll do a review to see how we can avoid this in the future. We’ll keep you posted!

  2. Good topic and sound, but unfortunately I just couldn't finish the video because of animations, they didn't actually help me understand the words more but were too quick and distracting with a lot of colors…

  3. If we could synthesize exercise into a pill it would be the most revolutionary drug ever created.
Most drug labs would disappear because there'd be no demand for what they're making and we'd live not only longer, but better quality lives well into old age.

  4. Im my experience, my wright is very tightly correlated to my activity levels. And no, i dont stick to some mythical hard coded activity budget when I cycle for four hours.

  5. Yeah, this ist bullshit. Im sure the famous Micheal Phelbs diet is all just a hoax. Listen here. Kurzgesagt knows better than an olympic gold medalist. You dont need more food to excercise. Your body will just make up for it somehow…..

Its true, that abs are made in the kitchen.
But telling me that excercise doesnt burn more calories violates the laws of thermodynamics.

  6. Great video. Most people don't seem to understand the real reason of exercise. We need it to improve our strength, endurance, stability and other physical capabilities. These are very important, but most people only care about weight. So maybe let's not educate people about it? Lol. If people realise that they don't burn fat by running but improve a "useless" statistic called VO2 max that contributes to stupid stuff like energy level and lifespan, but not weight loss which really matters

  7. Losing weight is easy. In fact I've been 10% body fat for years. And sugar is good for you, I eat hundreds of grams a day and actively my body fat is getting even lower. CICO is a myth. This is such a poorly done video.

  8. Sadly that's "not really it", what happens to the body and what metabolism is and the difference it has when u start eating the way u supposed to and exercise a little every day, or at least 3 times a week(150min hard). Btw about your body going to the calories you're eating when deficit, u can do the same diet and calories from more than 3years until need change, normally people change but this, dont teach u at school, teach u at documented research. Normally people dont fail bcse the diet is based, but bcse their adherence to the diet is not consistent and when they think they stopped "lowering their body fat" is when they still have to keep doing. So in the end remember, if u count macro´s, keep persistence and if the diet is well ajusted, dont stop doing it. Btw, from " Pontzer et al. 2018. " cmon bro, look at his last research´s… :/

  9. This is not always true, if you are an athlete in a training program you'll most likely be expending more calories than you would if you were left to your own devices. Additionally, if you combine strength training with cardio, you will probably find that you're constantly eating to stay fueled.

  10. Somehow this explains the observation I made over the last month. I kept a pedometer with me all the time and regardless if I walked the dog, rehearsed, went shopping or just did a lazy day, the count was around 4.5-5 k steps every day. If I for example did grocery shopping and had to walk with the dog I needed to really motivate myself to do it and was extremely inactive for hours afterwards. I mean inactive enough to do even minor chores or mind work. But it also reduced the inflammation by my neurodermatitis a lot. I definitely should go and shoot for the 10k steps on a day to day basis, even if just for this. But than I feel so unproductive. Argh.

  11. I am extremely dubious about this and while I don't think it's entirely untrue I suspect you may be exaggerating how little excercise helps with burning fat. Fortunately it's not something I've needed to worry about myself, so far.

I watched this video because i have interest in this topic and I interested in this topic because I myself asked this question also in the past when I am a high school science student
So i believe that in layers of our reality it look like there is free wiil but in reality we are just highly complex brains and its take too much inputs from surrounding and inside the brain also

  13. I missing the context of what "working out" is. If that is doing an easy 20-30 min every other day, sure, that is compensating for sitting around a lot. But if I ride 4h and do intervalls, I better take more than 2600 kcal in. If I do that regularly, say 20h per week, does that mean that I get more efficent and if I have a rest day I would only burn through like 1500 kcal?? I dont really get it.
