So; do you any one who would like to gain experience gardening in a Yoga Community in Woodbourne. New York
Oh, now I know why mine is getting tough. TY
"The only way to trust organic food is to grow it yourself." 👍🏼
This was so helpful. Thank you. I had some problems with some of my asparagus spears – maybe I damaged the crowns by weeding or cutting. I will be more careful and hopefully they'll recover!
The 6th mistake is giving your dog its first bite of asparagus.
I’d get the dog out of the picture and the garden
I have had mine in a large pot for over 10 years. I'm excited to see how they will do once I finally get them planted in the garden.
Love your channel and Tuck!
After 20 years how do you know when to put in a new patch?
very helpful. I planted 2 asparagus crowns and followed advice to not harvest the first year. I was amazed when they grew into giant ferns. Now it's autumn and they are turning brown. I will follow your advice and leave them until they are completely brown and dry then cut back and add a layer of straw.
I have read that asparagus is not good for dogs! ?
Is there anything you can do if you were away for several weeks, and your asparagus bolted? It's still mid May, and should have a few weeks of harvest yet.
Congratulations on your first asparagus!
Shop bought asparagus is utterly dire compared to what you can grow yourself.
First things I planted after buying my (hopefully) last place, were asparagus, rhubarb, gooseberries, blackcurrants, cordon apples, fan trained morello cherries & plums.
If I last 20 years (I'm 66) they'll be there for those who come after.
40 seconds of info in a 10 minute clip…thx
I'm a new asparagus plant gardner just started growing from seeds. Excited to see the ferns growing and almost ready to put in the ground. Any tips are appreciated. Living in Alberta my only concern is are harsh cold winters. I hope they survive.
It's been so-so from the boat, and a struggle from shore.
What happens if my green asparagus ferns fall over early in the season?
Do you still wait 2 years with 2 year old crowns?
I planted crowns a few weeks ago & I have whispy like ferns growing. They are only about 2 feet tall but very slender. Like a tall feather. One of them has berries about the size of pin heads so I know its a female. Only 3 plants have shot up out of 10. Should I still cut down the female as tiny as it is?
I'm new to growing asparagus, so this was so helpful! Thanks to you and Tuck!
You answer several questions I had. Thx you!!
I've never seen berries on the plants. Seeds, not berries, why?
The seeds don't make more plants?
Is growing in the ground or raised bed better !
F this I'll just go to the grocery store lol
After 3 years, I'm only getting 1 or 2 really tall spears/ferns per crown.
How do I get them to multiply into multiple spears per crown?
But asparagus taste like infection when it's raw!😢
Thank you! I had no idea to cut the fern with berries.
I have a question, I live in Philadelphia, do you sell the seeds?
That smell thing.. all my life, no smell. Then when I got to my 50’s I knew what everyone was talking about. Did my genes change?
I planted asparagus four years ago and am still learning about them. When the stalks fern out, am I supposed to remove them? I know that the female stalks should be removed before they go to seed but what about the others? I had been gone from home for several weeks and wasn’t able to tend the patch. The stalks ferned out and I cut them because I wasn’t getting any other stalks. What should I be doing? Thank you. Asparagus right out of the garden is my favorite (like Tuck!). Thank you for any help you can give.😊
Okay, it's July, only in my 2nd year and have one has green berries and is well over 6' tall, so I should cut her back? Thank you
Hi James- thanks for this video!
I just started harvesting my patch last year- This year I got such an amazing and long harvest.
I have a ton of female plants and I did let them go to seed.
I have been transplanting the seedlings for a few weeks now as I see them.
Any tips for transplanting?
My asparagus plants all died except for 2 of them after 3 years and I don’t know why!!!
I think this vid is better yet than the other! Thanks again.
Circumstances made it impossible to weed my asparagus for 2 years. Now they are overgrown with weeds and wild flowers. How can I save them?
Beautiful pup!
