The random "egg appearance" is a bug that has been in the game for ages… and the devs don't care. Initially the eggs were placed, when you meet up with a ship that is infected by alien bugs. But due the bug, you just randomly get eggs hatching on your ships, without any eggs ever having been placed on your ship in the first place.
I've had games completely ruined by suddenly having half a dozen dogs hatch from an egg, eating all my food and then die.
Try game Cosmoteer , you build space ships from blocks and fight , its awesome and im sure you love it

From a concept it looks like a fun game, but visually it is tough to see. Dont know what it is that is the turnoff.
