The most cost effective method I found up to level 200 engineering. I was really surprised that I could actually sell the items I crafted on the trading house, which made this method insanely cheap.

spears are also worth considering. Espeicially the higher tier ones as they require less wood in exchange for some cheaper iron

Xp per 1 gold is weird. Typically you do 1xp to gold. Like 1xp costs x coin.
Why not make orichalcum spears from 150-200? It costs a little bit of iron but less ironwood planks and ironwood planks are much more expensive than iron ingots
